Tears, smiles, and giggles—
visible or invisible,
aware or unaware.

Deeper Current.

This morning,
my lungs filled with life.

I kissed myself good morning
with the lips of my lover.

I cared for myself
by caring for my furry four-legged companion.

I sat with myself
in movement and breath.
I was guided by myself,
showing up as my dear friend.

I laughed with myself
as I appeared in a much younger,
less serious monkey version of me.

I hugged myself as I wept,
remembering all the past versions of myself,
standing in awe of the layers that must die
for new ones to be born.

I bowed to myself
as I saw myself exactly as I am right now—
sitting upright,
holding my soul in this regal posture,
constantly moving inside this instrument
of strength and fragility.

Allowing my breath
to expand all of me.

I acknowledged myself
in each of you today.

Simultaneously emptying
every thought, concern, compassion, and joy
into the sea of hope
that is my beloved, fragrant heart.

It simply keeps receiving sunlight, rain, seasons, and roots itself deeply.
