MEET DR. YOON KIM
We’re continuing our introduction to the exceptional doctors who make up the Total Eye Care team. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Dr. Yoon Kim, who sees patients at our Denville office.
Dr Yoon graduated Summa Cum Laude from the State University of New York College of Optometry in 1997. Upon graduation, she received multiple awards, including the Beta Sigma Kappa award which is bestowed upon students who maintain top ranking in their class for all 4 years of study. Outside of class, Dr. Kim participated in multiple extracurricular projects including research in the groundbreaking Ocular Hypertension and Treatment Study which changed the course of glaucoma treatment in the U.S. and abroad.
After graduation, Dr. Kim went on to complete her Residency in Primary Eye Care and Ocular Disease with emphasis on glaucoma, cataract, cornea, oculoplastics, vitreo-retinal, neuro-ophthalmology, and emergency eye care at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry/The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA. She was a valued mentor, instructor and collaborator during her tenure.
Soon after completing her Residency, Dr. Kim became a clinical director of 2 practices in New York City which thrived over the 25 years she was at the helm. Dr. Kim received her Board Certification and maintains her status as a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry to present.
She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her patients at Total Eye Care. Dr. Kim is married and has two wonderful daughters. When not working with patients, Dr. Kim is very involved with several non-profit organizations including Girl Scouts of New Jersey and several local food pantries. She enjoys travel, hiking, skiing and spending time with family and friends.
