Something not many people talk about I’ve learned on my healing journey that is so simple yet more important than you thought.
Honesty.
To practice this gift is to know ourselves and others better and most especially God
We are able to build better tools to express and communicate our feelings, wants and needs.
To be honest isn’t something that is prevalent in today’s society.
Sure people say it, “be honest” but it goes deeper.
To be honest about ourselves and our feelings is to help ourselves understand what we feel and how it affects us.
To be honest about our feelings without hurting or offending others is so we can express our feelings safely without reacting our needs, our wants, and more.
You can be honest and then you can be truly honest.
Be truly honest with God.
Why true honesty is so important. If we are truly honest with ourselves this honesty is fostered in our families and relationships. It helps us move through any situation with confidence and helps others understand how we feel.
Being honest about our emotions and how it makes us feel is something that requires time and practice.
If we are to go within our own hearts and feel what we feel, and to be truly honest, we are more able to ask for what we truly need rather that react to what we feel in the moment, (attacked, abandoned, scared, fight or flight, misunderstood)
This practice is healthy as opposed to getting defensive, angry or pushing back which may be all too familiar.
Being honest about what we are going through without having to overreact or offend or hurt ourselves or others can be truly cathartic.
Being honest about our situations especially our health our own suffering are two I most often recognized.
Try practicing honesty with writing to yourself honestly.
Do this or practice with someone who understands and you trust.
Practice with your family but only if it conveys your true feelings and situation and how it makes you feel. Let them know you are working on being more honest and a better communicator.
Trust me this will change your life and how you react.
Trust in Jesus and ask for help being more honest about yourself and your feelings and with others. Ask Him to help you go within, to pause before reacting and communicate better.
May you find this in a place of understanding so it can help you.
God bless you.
Comment if this helps you.
