Your young athlete may love the game—but their body still needs time to recover.

As more student-athletes juggle school sports and club teams, experts are raising concerns about the physical toll of nearly year-round competition. Playing multiple matches each week with little recovery time can increase the risk of overuse injuries, fatigue, and burnout.

Strong ankles do more than support your feet—they help keep your entire body moving safely.

Whether you're walking, running, playing sports, or simply navigating everyday life, strong ankles improve balance, stability, and help reduce your risk of falls and injuries.

Try incorporating simple ankle-strengthening exercises into your routine, such as:
âś” Heel raises
âś” Toe raises
âś” Ankle circles
âś” Single-leg balance exercises
âś” Resistance band movements

A few minutes of strengthening today can help keep you active tomorrow.

If you're experiencing persistent ankle pain, instability, or repeated sprains, an orthopedic evaluation can help identify the cause and get you back on your feet.

Celebrate safely!

Maintaining muscle strength becomes even more important as we age.

The good news: staying active doesn't always require an intense workout. Gentle exercises—even ones that can be done from bed—may help improve mobility, maintain muscle tone, support balance, and make everyday activities easier.

Whether you're recovering from surgery, managing arthritis, or simply looking to stay active, consistent movement can play an important role in long-term musculoskeletal health.

Remember: it's never too late to start moving.

Thinking about getting back into running?

Whether you're training for your first 5K or returning after time away, one of the biggest mistakes runners make is doing too much, too soon.

According to sports medicine experts, nearly half of runners experience an injury each year that sidelines them from activity. The good news? Many of these injuries are preventable.

Before you lace up:
âś” Increase mileage gradually
âś” Prioritize strength training
âś” Get adequate sleep and recovery
âś” Fuel your body properly
âś” Replace worn-out running shoes

A smart training plan doesn't just help you run farther—it helps you stay healthy enough to keep running.

If joint pain, knee pain, hip pain, or a sports injury is slowing you down, the specialists at Greater Orlando Orthopedic Group can help you stay active and moving safely.
