Knee or foot pain may not start where you feel it.

When the pelvis and core aren’t properly stabilized, the effects can travel through the entire kinetic chain. Your posture may shift, your knee stabilizers may not engage correctly, and pressure can be distributed unevenly through your feet.

That’s why we look beyond the painful area. Your spine, pelvis, knees, and feet all work together, and understanding those connections can help us address what may be contributing to the problem.

Every body is different. An individualized assessment can help determine what’s happening in yours.

Your pelvic floor isn’t just about Kegels, and tighter isn’t always better.

When the pelvic floor is already holding too much tension, constantly squeezing can contribute to imbalances that affect how your pelvis sits, how your core functions, and even how your midsection appears.

True core stability comes from coordination.

Your pelvic floor needs to be able to:
• Contract when support is needed
• Relax when it isn’t
• Work together with your deep core and lumbar stabilizers
• Help maintain a more neutral, supported pelvic position

Sometimes the goal isn’t to strengthen more. It’s to learn how to relax, engage, and stabilize at the right time.

That’s why we look beyond “just do Kegels” and focus on how your body is actually functioning.

Activation matters. But how you activate matters even more.

Think your pelvic floor or core may not be working the way it should?

At Oakland Sports Chiropractic, we look at how your core, pelvis, and surrounding muscles are working together so we can address the imbalance, not just tell you to “strengthen your core.”

Schedule an evaluation and let’s find out what your body actually needs.

The internet loves "3 stretches everyone should do."

But the truth is... there isn't one set of exercises that's right for everyone.

What helps your coworker, your spouse, or your favorite fitness influencer might not be what your body needs.

Pain is personal. Movement is personal. Recovery should be too.

That's why every patient who walks into our office gets a thorough evaluation. We look at how you move, what your goals are, your daily routine, and what your body is telling us before we build a plan.

Social media can be a great place to learn, but it can't replace care that's designed specifically for you.

Have you ever tried a stretch you found online that didn't help—or even made things worse? We'd love to hear your experience.

Chiropractic care can be more than an adjustment.

Depending on your needs, your care plan may also include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, rehabilitation, passive modalities, movement assessments and other services designed to support your recovery and help you move better.

An adjustment is one service within a larger approach to care. At Oakland Sports Chiropractic, we look at the full picture and recommend services based on your condition, goals and individual needs.

Not sure what type of care is right for you? Schedule an evaluation so we can create a plan for you.

Your nervous system doesn’t need another diagnosis to chase. It may need a moment to feel safe.

When you’re navigating hormone changes, stress, physical symptoms, parenting, work, and the general chaos of life, it’s easy to become consumed with finding the one thing that’s “wrong.”

Breathing exercises, vagus nerve tools, and other techniques can absolutely be helpful. But nervous system regulation begins with a simpler question:

Does my body feel safe right now?

Can I sit quietly for a few minutes?
Can I soften my breathing?
Can I feel calm within my own body—even if nothing around me has changed?

You don’t have to force peace or solve everything at once. Start by noticing what safety feels like in one small moment. With practice, that feeling can become something you carry into parenting, work, movement, and everyday life.

Sometimes the first step isn’t finding another answer. It’s learning how to feel at home in your body again.

Strengthening a movement pattern your body isn’t using correctly may only make the compensation stronger.

Before building strength and endurance, we often need to make sure the brain and muscles are communicating effectively. Neuromuscular reeducation helps your body relearn how to activate the right muscles, in the right order, at the right time.

Because it’s not just about whether a muscle is strong. It’s about whether your body knows how and when to use it.
Better activation. Better movement. Then we build strength that lasts.

Are you strengthening the right muscles—or strengthening around the problem?

Healing doesn't always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from making small, intentional choices throughout your day.

Choosing a meal that nourishes your body instead of grabbing what's most convenient.

Stepping outside for fresh air and sunshine.

Taking a few quiet moments to read, slow down, and let your nervous system reset.

Health isn't built by one perfect decision. It's built by the little things you do consistently that support your body, your mind, and your recovery.

What's one small thing you did for your health today or you plan to do this weekend?

Share it below. We'd love to hear it!

"Engage your core." "Activate your glutes." We've all heard these cues... but what do they actually mean?

Many people think engaging a muscle means squeezing it as hard as possible. In reality, it's less about creating tension and more about creating communication.

Movement starts with your brain. Healthy movement depends on your brain's ability to recognize where your body is in space and send the right signals to the right muscles at the right time. When that communication isn't working well, other muscles often compensate, which can contribute to pain, stiffness, or inefficient movement patterns.

Learning to engage a muscle isn't about working harder. It's about helping your body move smarter.

Healing doesn't happen all at once. It happens one choice, one habit, and one small step at a time.

No matter how long you've been dealing with pain, stiffness, or an injury, your body is always working toward healing. It's never too late to start moving in the right direction, and even the smallest changes can create meaningful progress over time.

If you've been waiting for the "perfect" time to prioritize your health, let this be your reminder: today is a great place to start.

Pain relief shouldn't feel like you're running in place.
Here's something that may surprise you: for many musculoskeletal conditions, it shouldn't take dozens of visits just to notice meaningful progress.

If you're only seeing small improvements or your pain keeps coming back, it may be time to ask a few important questions:
• Do we have the right diagnosis?
• Is this treatment approach the best fit for my condition?
• Would another therapy or provider complement my care?
• Is my body in an environment that can actually heal?

Healing isn't always linear, and every person responds differently. But your care plan should evolve as you do.

The goal isn't just more appointments. The goal is meaningful progress that gets you back to living your life.

At Oakland Sports Chiropractic, we believe in treating the whole person, continually reassessing your progress, and making changes when needed to help you move toward lasting results.
