We had an absolute blast hanging out at the Summer Free for All - Free Lunch + Play event hosted by Portland Parks & Recreation and City of Portland, OR, this past Tuesday!

The Kangaroo Care team loved connecting with our amazing community and handing out free school supplies and toys to all the incredible kids and families who stopped by. Thanks to everyone who came out to play, connect, and gear up for a great school year ahead! 🦘

🐠 Free Family Admission to the Oregon Coast Aquarium! 🐠

We’re sharing a great opportunity for families in our community! The Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport is offering a limited number of free family admissions from Saturday, August 22 through Monday, August 31.

The Aquarium is looking for feedback to better understand what feels accessible and what could be improved for visitors with disabilities. In exchange for completing a short online accessibility survey after your visit, you and your family can receive free admission, including admission for a DSP/PSW.

💙 This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a day at the coast while also helping make the Aquarium more welcoming and accessible for everyone!

💙 Just sharing this in case it’s helpful to someone in our community! We’re not affiliated with ACAP, but wanted to pass along this new day program opportunity.

🎉 Projects at ACAP starts August 24 — and registration is open now!

This year-round Adult Day Service program is for individuals ages 14 and older and uses K-Plan hours (OR526 and OR542). It’s a client-centered program where participants work with mentors to choose and build skills that are meaningful to them.

Clients attend weekly and work one-on-one or in small groups with ACAP mentors and volunteers. Along the way, they can build life skills, interpersonal skills, goal-setting skills, explore interests, and take part in community activities and events. Clients can even help plan themes, decorations, and activities for parties throughout the year! 🎨🎉
