Pat called the customer support line today.
Pat had heard about Hello Everyday at a Village event and was intrigued. Her husband, who was a mechanical engineer and a tech enthusiast, passed away a year ago. An extrovert, Pat described her journey beyond the “fog of grief”. She heard about the Village to Village Network and joined her local chapter. She became a greeter for the Village.
Pat’s daughter lives the next state over and worries about her. Her son is a bit more independent. Pat had checked out our website and loved the unobtrusive nature of the Hello Sensor. I explained some of the other benefits. Pat subscribed right there.
Then Pat shared an event that took place in March - she was talking on the phone with a friend and while chatting popped her vitamins into her mouth. Her mouth was dry and the vitamins all lodged in her throat. Unable to talk or swallow, she knew she only had a minute. She tried drinking water - it wouldn’t go in. Finally her speech pathologist training kicked in - she used her fingers to move the pills in her throat at her clavicle until she could swallow! Her friend was yelling into the phone, helpless. Pat’s main concern - her 30lb dog.
Pat gave us permission to share her story - to illustrate how quickly our independence can also make us vulnerable.
Be like Pat.
