Order Update and Random Musings
Good Morning,
First, I wanted to give an update for our Founding Members. This is new for you and for me as well.
There are certain things I cannot control. That in itself has been a learning lesson for me and one I am trying to breathe through on a daily basis.
Things people donât see behind the scenes when youâre building this. Testing. So. Much. Testing.
Bacterial testing, stability testing, skin testing, GCMS testing. Get through one test right into another.
No one talks about the testing. Holy moly.
Right now there are gallons of product made. Sitting there merging. Iâm happy about that because if you know anything about essential oils you know that sometimes it takes a hot minute for them all to get along to do their thing. So thatâs positive. I noticed it myself with the testers. In the beginning when I opened it, I was like âwow, this is loudâ. But it was also made less than 24 hours before. Over time I noticed how the cade and the vanilla started to play well together and at night it helped me sleep and my neck issue as well. The scent of the merge is something quite spectacular in the âmedicineâ space. So Iâm not unhappy that there are gallons just sitting and merging within itself.
Bottles are there. Labels are there. Boxes are there. Product is made. My CM and chemists have done everything perfectly. Iâm really proud and impressed with their organization. Especially considering Iâm one of hundreds of customers.
But the testing. Like everything else in the world, the testing arena is changing fast. Better data for less money, older systems trying to catch up to tech. Just like everything else in the world.
Right now Faeve is waiting for its final batch assay approval. One email into the COO box. Heâs checking as fast as I am. Weâre both waiting.
This is definitely where my patience is tested. Not because I donât understand, but because I canât control it.
I canât call the 3rd party testing company and ask for an update. In fact, I donât even know the companies name and wonât until the test is completed. Itâs done that way on purpose to keep everything well, clean. No conflict of interest, no pressure from me trying to push it along. I have no control.
What I am being told is âany day nowâ. My CM wants this out the door too, because then we can start working on new products. I canât do both right now, too many hats. So I sit and wait and refresh my email a million times a day.
So far, we havenât failed one test. I donât like to assume anything, but I do think that the final passing is in the high probability range. But until I get the word and see the paper- there is always a chance for a fumble.
Once the results come in, everything happens real fast, with shipping within 72-96 hours.
Product is coming in pallets, by truck. From a place that is 3.5 hrs from a major airport and 1.5 from a regional. My CM builds product in an industrial space surrounded by nature. I like that. It fits.
But it also means it can take 6-7 days to get here.
I am fortunate to have friends in every industry. My trucking company is owned by a friend of mine from NY. She is a fast talking demanding female owner and operator dealing with global freight by day and a yoga instructor at night. She called me and said âMer, Iâm on this and I will make sure my guys get this to you even if I have to call their asses every 1/2 hrâ. Namaste.
On my side? Mailers, postcards, swag- all on their way. For the retailers? Display boxes also in production.
So I find myself in a place my family likes to call âhurry up and waitâ. While usually we say this when trying to herd teenagers for boating, the same premise applies.
But, it needs to be done right. Otherwise, everything is for naught.
I have had this feeling before, about 20 years ago when I was nine months pregnant with my son. Walking around big as a house waiting for him to enter the world. I couldnât control that either. But at least I could read old wives tales on how to âget things movingâ.
No old wives tales on this.
So instead Iâll finish this, drink some coffee, say hello to Ollie the Olive tree in my backyard that we rescued a few years back and catch up with my attorneys. Thatâs always fun.
And instead of walking around the block a million times or eating spicy food, Iâll just keep refreshing my email.
Once the switch is turned on, youâll get an email.
Until then please join me in your version of âhurry up and waitâ.
Meredith
