We’re proud to share that our very own Orthotic Fitter and Prosthetic Peer Advisor, Steve Halloran, contributed to a recent article in The O&P EDGE, “Holistic Care: How Psychosocial Factors Impact O&P Patients.”
The article highlights an important reality in orthotics and prosthetics: successful outcomes depend on far more than the device itself. Factors such as social support, mental health, financial resources, transportation, and community connections can significantly influence a patient’s rehabilitation journey and overall quality of life. Studies suggest that social determinants of health account for the majority of health outcomes, underscoring the importance of a truly patient-centered approach to care.
Steve’s involvement reflects our ongoing commitment to looking beyond the clinical aspects of care and recognizing the whole person behind every device we provide. By understanding and addressing the psychosocial challenges our patients face, we can help create better outcomes, stronger relationships, and more meaningful lives.
