At VCC, we are there every step of the way, offering guidance, answering questions, and providing support with compassion and respect. Sarah Brown is one of those team members who consistently goes above and beyond for the families she serves.

June and July brought us even more exciting reasons to celebrate during our monthly Nothing Bundt Celebrations at VCC. These get-togethers are such a fantastic opportunity for us to connect and have fun. While we appreciate the flexibility of our hybrid work schedules, we truly enjoy meeting in person to socialize and indulge in some sweet treats!

The cookouts are over, the flags have been folded away, and Memorial Day has passed. However, for families who have made the ultimate sacrifice, this day is never just a holiday; it serves as a reminder of a loved one who never returned home. When Mark Benoski speaks about his father, he shares memories that go beyond his dad's accomplishments as a decorated Army officer. He recalls a father who loved to cook, often brought home a Hershey bar tucked inside his briefcase, and made life fun for his young family. As we head into the last weekend of May, our “Nothing Bundt Celebrations” have continued to be a great way to recognize and show appreciation for the VCC team. These monthly get-togethers are a fun and easy way to connect, celebrate, and enjoy some time together with a sweet treat.

Memorial Day and Veterans Day are both dedicated to honoring those who served our country — but they carry different meanings.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for the brave men and women who lost their lives in military service. It is a time to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Veterans Day, on the other hand, is a celebration honoring all who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Because of this distinction, many Veterans view Memorial Day as a solemn day of reflection rather than a day of celebration. While it is always appropriate to thank a Veteran for their service, instead of “Happy Memorial Day,” consider acknowledging the deeper meaning behind the holiday with gratitude and remembrance.

This Memorial Day, we honor the fallen, remember their families, and remain grateful for the freedoms their sacrifice made possible.
