“I think my SI joint is out.”

That’s exactly how my patient walked into my office.

He had already diagnosed himself with “SI joint dysfunction” after searching online (thanks, Dr. Google and ChatGPT 😉). But instead of jumping straight into treatment, we started with a thorough evaluation.

We performed a cluster of SI joint provocation tests, assessed his hip range of motion, standing balance, lumbar spine, pelvic stability, and how his entire body moved together.

The result?

His symptoms were not coming from a dysfunctional SI joint.

Instead, we found significantly reduced hip internal rotation on the opposite side. That restriction was changing the way he moved, increasing stress through his pelvis, and contributing to irritation and pain around his left low back and SI joint region.

This is why an accurate assessment matters.

Pain is often where the problem shows up—not necessarily where the problem starts.

If we had only treated the painful area, he may have gotten temporary relief, but we would have missed the movement dysfunction that was driving his symptoms in the first place.

This is why I believe every patient deserves a provider who is willing to look at the whole person:
✔️ How your joints move together.
✔️ How your muscles coordinate.
✔️ How your body compensates.
✔️ The why behind your pain—not just the location of it.

Your body is one connected system. When we understand how all the pieces work together, we can create a treatment plan that addresses the root cause instead of chasing symptoms.

Because the goal isn’t just to feel better today—it’s to help you move better and stay better.

👀 Did you guess the right hip?

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that pain or pelvic floor symptoms always mean the problem is at the pelvic floor.

The truth? The body works as a team.

A limitation in hip mobility can change the way you squat, walk, breathe, and transfer force through your pelvis. Over time, your pelvic floor may end up working overtime to compensate.

That’s why my evaluations don’t stop at the pelvic floor.

I assess how your hips move, how your core coordinates, how your feet and ankles influence the chain, your breathing mechanics, and how your entire body moves together.

Because if we only treat the symptom and not the reason your body is compensating, you’re more likely to keep chasing the same problem.

✨ Movement tells a story. You just have to know what to look for.

Did you guess the correct side? Let me know in the comments before you watch the reveal! 👇

🚿 Does the sound of running water instantly make you feel like you have to p*e?

Or maybe turning the key in your front door or pulling into your driveway sends you sprinting to the bathroom.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and contrary to popular belief, it’s not because your bladder is “small.”

This is called urinary urgency, and it’s often a learned response between your brain, bladder, and pelvic floor.

Over time, your brain starts associating certain cues (like running water, getting home, or even unlocking the bathroom door) with needing to urinate. Add in a pelvic floor that’s either overactive or not coordinating well, and that “gotta go NOW” feeling can become overwhelming.

The good news? It doesn’t have to stay that way.

Pelvic floor physical therapy helps retrain the communication between your brain, bladder, and pelvic floor so you can regain control—instead of your bladder controlling you.

You don’t have to plan your day around the nearest bathroom.

💙 If you’ve been saying, “I thought this was just part of getting older” or “I figured this was normal after kids,” let’s talk.

There is nothing I love more than getting out into the community and talking about pelvic health. 🤍

This weekend I had the opportunity to host a Pelvic Floor 101 Workshop at Joe’s Pilates Studio, and we had such a great time learning together!

We talked about:
✨ What the pelvic floor actually is (and what it does!)
✨ How your core, diaphragm, and pelvic floor all work together
✨ Common symptoms like leaking, urgency, pelvic pain, constipation, and prolapse—and why they’re more common than you think
✨ Why “just do Kegels” isn’t the answer for everyone
✨ How Pilates and pelvic floor physical therapy complement each other beautifully to help you move, breathe, and feel stronger.

My favorite part was all of the amazing questions and conversations. Pelvic health shouldn’t be something we only talk about after there’s a problem. The more we understand our bodies, the more empowered we are to care for them.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out, participated, and made the workshop so much fun—and to Joe’s Pilates Studio for hosting me! I can’t wait to do it again.

If you missed this one but would love to attend a future workshop (or have me come speak to your gym, studio, or organization), send me a DM. I’d love to connect!

Think pelvic floor physical therapy is only for leaking or pregnancy? Think again. 👀

Your pelvic floor is part of a much bigger system, which means dysfunction here can contribute to symptoms that seem completely unrelated.

✨ Here are 6 things pelvic floor PT can often help with that might surprise you:

✔️ Low back pain
✔️ Hip pain
✔️ Sciatica
✔️ Plantar fasciitis
✔️ De Quervain syndrome (thumb/wrist pain)
✔️ TMJ dysfunction (jaw pain & clicking)

The body is connected. We don’t just treat symptoms—we look at how your breathing, core, hips, feet, jaw, posture, and pelvic floor work together to find the root cause.

If you’ve been treating one area without lasting relief, it may be time to look at the bigger picture.

💬 Which one surprised you the most? Let me know in the comments!

👣 Your pelvic floor’s secret weapon? Your big toe.

Sounds strange, but hear me out…

Your body works as one connected system. Limited big toe extension (the ability to bend your big toe upward) can change how you walk, squat, lunge, and push off during each step.

When your big toe doesn’t move well, your body has to compensate. That can lead to changes all the way up the chain—including your foot, ankle, knee, hip, pelvis, and yes… even your pelvic floor.

💡 Why does this matter?
• Less efficient glute activation
• Altered pelvic mechanics
• Increased pressure and compensation through the core and pelvic floor
• Potential contribution to symptoms like leaking, pelvic pain, or feelings of heaviness

That’s why pelvic floor therapy is about so much more than Kegels. We look at the whole body to uncover what’s really driving your symptoms.

So the next time you’re working on your pelvic floor, don’t forget to check your feet!

✨ Have you ever thought your big toe could affect your pelvic floor?

“I’ve been doing my exercises for a week… and I don’t feel that pressure anymore.”

This is one of my favorite things to hear as a pelvic floor physical therapist. 💛

Pelvic pressure, heaviness, or the feeling that something is “falling out” is common—but it isn’t something you have to accept as your new normal.

The right treatment goes far beyond doing random Kegels. When we identify what’s actually causing your symptoms and create a plan that’s specific to your body, meaningful changes can happen.

Every recovery looks different, but this patient started noticing relief after just one week of consistently doing her personalized home program.

If you’re dealing with pelvic pressure, don’t wait until it gets worse. Your body is capable of healing, and you deserve to feel confident and comfortable again.
