Lighthouse quotes that I keep coming back to over and over again. Keep shining. We’re all connected in our isolation.

Therapists aren't one-size-fits-all—and that's exactly the point.

Meet another one of the humans "behind the couch."
This one happens to be Beth, the founder of Lakeview.

When she's not at Lakeview, you'll probably find her outside, on a hike, with friends and fam, playing in the snow or on a beach, she up for the next adventure or side quest.

She takes her work seriously. Herself? Not so much. She's got a dry sense of humor and isn't afraid to go dark, because sometimes that's what a person needs.

Beth started Lakeview because she learned first hand how much motherhood can rock you, and she knew she could create a space where your story is heard. That healing isn't about following a perfect path; it's about someone walking beside you while you find your new way, and she's honored when people trust her and Lakeview to be there for them.

The best therapy happens when you find someone you genuinely connect with. Every therapist brings their own personality, passions, and perspective into the room, and that's what makes finding the right fit so important.

We're excited to keep introducing you to the incredible humans behind our practice, one therapist at a time.
Who's next? Stay tuned. 👀

This post is not actually about Lindsay Clancy's trial, it's about everyone's reaction to the trial.

If you know this case, you know it's tragic. We aren't here to rehash details or the events that led to her trial, but Lindsay's story was tragic long before that, a story about a healthcare system, and the way we treat postpartum and women's mental health, and the pressure we put on moms to hold it all together.

Here's what we want you to remember: Lindsay and her family will never see the comments. The armchair detectives. The Facebook warriors arguing in her name.

But you know who will?

The brand new mom, deep in the trenches, struggling with depression, anxiety, or thoughts that scare her. The woman who won't talk to a counselor because she's afraid someone will call her crazy and take her baby.
This trial is splashy. Divisive. It's generating a lot of conversation, and conversation is good in person, damaging online.

So here's what you can actually do:
Check on a mom. Bring her a meal. Ask her how she's really doing, not just "isn't motherhood wonderful."

And if you're the one struggling: we're here. We KNOW this work is complex: postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, psychosis, and our team gets that. You don't have to explain the hard parts. You can focus on getting better.

A message from Chris Howard-Swan, Remembering Ourselves Circle facilitator:

I believe every woman carries within her an innate wisdom and strength that can become obscured by the demands of life, relationships, and cultural expectations. My passion is creating spaces - both in Women’s Circles and individual therapy work where you can reconnect with your inner knowing, reclaim your voice, and cultivate a life rooted in authenticity, self-trust, and sovereignty.

I am starting another Circle this fall at Lakeview Counseling Services in Lake-in-the Hills.

You are invited. If you are feeling called to know more about this kind of work, you will find my email below.
