Summer is filled with fun events: picnics, concerts in the park, graduation parties and more. If you have an older adult in the family who would like to attend the event but may need a little help getting around, or enjoying the event safely, Hanson Services can help. A Hanson caregiver can be there to support the person throughout the event. If you have a loved one who is experiencing dementia, and may find the festivities overwhelming after a while, our caregiver can take them home early, or to a quiet space, and help keep them engaged in a calmer environment. Call 216-226-5425 for more information or to schedule a free assessment!

Free webinar from Benjamin Rose: ASK THE EXPERT: WHAT'S IN A FALL?
A fall for an older adult is rarely “just a fall.” It can trigger a chain reaction of physical injuries, emotional stress and unexpected financial costs that may not appear until weeks or months later.

Benjamin Rose will explore these important issues during its free webinar, “Ask the Expert: What’s in a Fall?” on Thursday, June 25, from noon-1 p.m. The program is free but you need to register to receive the webinar link.

The webinar will examine the physical, environmental and medical factors that can contribute to falls in older adults while sharing practical prevention strategies to help older adults remain safer and more confident at home and in the community.
Participants will learn how changes in balance, vision, medications and chronic health conditions can impact mobility, along with thoughtful planning and preventive steps that can significantly reduce fall risk. Click the link to register.

Join us for us for a webinar on why fall prevention is not just a safety issue, but a critical component of aging well & staying independent.

Today is National Senior Health and Fitness Day! Luckily, how to stay healthy as we age is no mystery. It's common sense practices like being physically active, eating mostly healthy foods, watching your numbers (blood pressure, weight, cholesterol, etc.) The U.S. Pointer Study shows that, besides helping you to feel better, these practices can reduce the chance of cognitive decline as we age.

The U.S. POINTER study from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Alzheimer's Association explored how healthy lifestyle approaches benefit brain health. Participants were in either a self-guided or structured program with support and coaching. After four years, both groups showed improved cognition, benefiting all demographics, with greater benefits in the structured group.
