Rev. Andrew Van Allen, affectionately known as “Andy”, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

Andy was born on Sunday, July 18, 1937, in Pioche, NV, to the late Charles and Bessie Moon Van Allen. Throughout Andy’s life, his love for Christ and his dedication to faith have always shown brightly. The very model of a true “soldier of the cross”, he pastored numerous Pentecostal Holiness churches, including the Lancaster Pentecostal Holiness Church, as well as in Sumter, SC. From there, he served for countless years of missionary work in the Philippines, Trinidad, and Guyana. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, who took great pride in caring for his family. A hardworking man, during his lifetime, he opened small businesses on the side to help provide for his family of seven. In his free time, he loved boating, fishing, and spending time with his family. Andy leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and a testament of faithfulness to be cherished by those he knew.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Bishop, and a grandson, Caleb Cartright.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife with whom he shared sixty-sevens years of love, Virginia Van Allen; children, Jackie Van Allen Rhoden (Gerald), Timothy Van Allen (Norma), Charles "Chuch" James Van Allen, Melody Van Allen Deese (Ossie), and Judy Van Allen Cartright (Tony); grandchildren, Nicholas Rhoden, Christian Rohden, Alice Ann Anderson, Derek Allen Mahaffey, Alaina Nicole Hickman, Charles Tyler Van Allen (Emily), Arieana Van Allen, Jeremiah Bryant, Kristy Deese Hart (Titus), Charity Deese King (Chason), Colby Cartright and Kyndra Shurtliff (Derik); great grandchidren, Lexi Rhoden, Jonah Rhoden, Donnavon Cole, Kayla Williams, Nathan Williams, Sebastian Van Allen, Finn Van Allen, Noa Van Allen, Luke Van Allen, Jayde Cartright, Harper Cartright, and Laney Rooker; as well as two great great-grandchildren, Elliot James Williams and Salem Cole Davis.

A chapel memorial service with military honors will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 am, at A Simple Service Burial & Cremation (201 N. Catawba St., Lancaster, SC 29720), with Rev. Ossie Deese officiating. A reception will be held in the funeral home's banquet hall immediately following the service. Andy will be laid to rest privately at Ft Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the hospice staff of Pruitt Health – Rock Hill, SC, for the compassionate care they provided Andy in his last days.
