Janyce Kathryn "Jan" Guess

Janyce Kathryn Guess, affectionately known as “Jan,” entered her eternal heavenly home on September 30, 2026.

Jan was born in Temple, Texas, on May 5, 1938. During her childhood, her family lived on a dairy, where she learned the value of hard work by watching her father, who worked as a milkman. She attended Temple High School where she enjoyed yell leading, the tumbling team, and the Pepperettes.

On August 9, 1957, Jan married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Hugh Guess, at the Central Church of Christ in Temple. They resided in Waco until Ron was offered a job with J.C. Penney in Lubbock, where their daughter, Lynsey, was born. They lived there for about three years and attended the Sunset Church of Christ. They moved back to Temple shortly afterward, where their son, John, was born.

In 1967, they moved to Garland, Texas when Ron was hired as a pharmaceutical salesman by the UpJohn Company. While in Garland, they attended the Saturn Road Church of Christ. Together, Jan and Ron worked in the bus ministry and visitation ministry and sang for numerous weddings and funerals. They also loved traveling with friends from church, creating treasured memories for themselves and their families.

Jan was an accomplished artist who painted many watercolor, acrylic, and oil paintings. However, she found that oil painting was her favorite and her artwork found its way into galleries in New Mexico, Texas, California, and Louisiana, sharing her creativity and love of beauty with others.

To her family and friends, Jan may be best remembered for her love of singing, playing the piano, and bringing people together. After learning piano at an early age, she taught herself to play nearly any hymn or popular song by ear. She hosted numerous parties, gatherings, and holiday celebrations, filling her home with music, laughter, and love and creating warm, lasting memories for those around her.

Jan was preceded in death by her father, John Homer Little; her mother, Juanita May Little; her sister, Barbara Jeanne Davis; and her husband, Ronald Hugh Guess.

She is survived by her 2 children, Lynsey Smith and her husband, Jim Smith, of Rowlett; and John Guess of Garland.

Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, Nathan Smith and his wife, Caitlin, of Plano and their children Oliver, Penelope, and Henry; Whitney Smith of San Francisco; Hayley Taylor and her husband, Demetrius, of Royse City and their children, Jaelyn and Dallas; Sarah Guess of San Antonio; Rachel St. John and her husband, Daniel, of San Antonio and their son Jacob; and Emily Smoot and her husband, Cody of San Antonio and their daughter, Madelyn; and her brothers-in-law, Ray Davis of Temple and Jamie Barnes of Ft. Worth.

A celebration of Jan’s life will be at 10:00am on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cambodia Christian ministries: www.cambodiaministries.org, Agape Asia: agapeasia.org or Saturn Road Church of Christ missions: saturnroad.org

Doris Peart

Doris Peart of Lancaster, Texas, was born on July 14, 1942, in Sharp, Texas, and passed away on October 6, 2026. Her health had been declining, and her passing came quickly following a recent fall.

Doris graduated from Rockdale High School in 1960. In 1964, she married George “Bill” Peart, beginning a marriage that spanned 62 years. They moved to the Dallas area shortly after marrying and settled in Lancaster in 1972, where they raised their three daughters and built lasting friendships.

Outgoing and personable, Doris loved connecting with people and being active in her community and at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She treasured her close circle of friends and the time they spent exercising, sharing lunch, and supporting one another through life’s joys and challenges. Those friendships were an important and cherished part of her life.

Before retiring, Doris served as the church secretary at St. Francis of Assisi. She took pride in doing her work well and felt honored to serve the church and its parishioners. The position gave her a meaningful way to put her talents and love of people to work for her parish community. Her generous heart also found expression in charitable giving and helping others, reflecting her care for people beyond her own circle of family and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her father, Ernesto Munoz; her mother, Trinidad Jaramillo Munoz; and her youngest brother, Richard Munoz.

She is survived by her husband, George “Bill” Peart; her daughters, Patti, Lori and her husband Andrew, and Monica and her partner, Bill; her granddaughter, Gia; her brothers, Ernie Munoz and his wife, Lonita, and David Munoz and his wife, Janie; her niece, Christina Munoz Connolly; her nephews, JJ Munoz, Jake Munoz, and Vincent Munoz; and the spouses and children of her niece and nephews.

No services will be held in 2026. A celebration of Doris’s life will take place in early 2027, when her ashes will be placed at her mother’s headstone in Cameron, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Doris to use those funds for charitable acts of their own. A gift to a meaningful cause or an act of kindness for someone in need would be a fitting tribute to her generous spirit.

Doris will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and parish community for her warmth, generosity, outgoing spirit, and the many connections she made throughout her life.

Louis found his greatest joy in time spent with his beloved wife, Lou Ann, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Though not a swimmer himself, he eagerly took family vacations to the beach, Arkansas, and San Antonio because he loved seeing his family together. He also enjoyed attending the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas and later making trips to Cheyenne, reflecting a lifelong love of the western heritage that shaped him.

Above all, Louis will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, businessman, and friend whose faith, generosity, and dedication to family touched countless lives.
