This week the PA department of health recommended early administration of the MMR vaccine to all infants 6mo-12 mo of age due to the number of measles cases in our state. The endemic status of the disease warrants this recommendation. It is also recommended that all children between 1 and 4 who have received their first dose of MMR vaccine be updated with the second dose now rather than wait until the 4 year visit. This dose will take the place of that second dose. For infants, this will be an additional dose and they will still receive the recommended doses at 12 mo and at least 4 week later. Our office will be contacting those patients who this affects but please feel free to schedule prior to that notification if you can and call with any questions
