Registration is open for the June session of Schreiber Sibs!

Having a sibling with a disability or special needs is a unique experience and can come with challenges that other kids may not always understand.

Schreiber Sibs creates a space just for siblings ages 7–12 to connect with peers who “get it,” build friendships, share feelings, and have fun being kids together.

Through games, activities, and guided conversations led by licensed occupational therapists, siblings are reminded that their experiences matter, too.

Because supporting siblings helps strengthen the entire family.

June Session:
June 19, 2026
5:30–8:00 p.m.
Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development

Space is limited to 20 participants, and advance registration is required.

With Camp Schreiber only a few weeks away, we're especially grateful to C&N Bank for their recent $6,000 contribution through Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program.

As an approved Educational Improvement Organization, Schreiber uses EITC support to provide meaningful learning and service opportunities for local students, including those who volunteer at Camp Schreiber each summer. These experiences introduce young people to careers in education, healthcare, and human services while helping create an unforgettable camp experience for children of all abilities.

In just a few weeks, campers will be making friends, trying new activities, building confidence, and creating memories that last long after summer ends. Support from community partners like C&N Bank helps make those experiences possible.

Thank you, C&N Bank, for investing in brighter futures for children and young people throughout our community!

From our Speech-Language Pathology team:

Siblings play such an important role in helping children grow, connect, and communicate, especially when a child uses AAC.

AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) can include communication devices, picture systems, buttons, or other tools that help children express themselves. And while siblings often want to jump in and help, learning how to support communication takes practice too.

One of the biggest things siblings can learn is patience. Communicating with an AAC device can take extra time, and allowing a child to complete their message independently helps build confidence and communication skills.

Siblings can also become amazing communication partners. They often understand their brother or sister’s favorite jokes, activities, interests, and “inside language” better than anyone else. In therapy, we sometimes work with families to add favorite phrases, slang, games, or shared jokes to a child’s device so communication feels more personal and meaningful.

And support doesn’t stop there. Siblings can help model language by pointing to symbols on the device during play, routines, and everyday interactions. When children see the people around them using AAC too, it encourages communication growth and helps the device feel natural and successful.

Pro Tip:
If your child uses AAC, encourage siblings to explore the device together during playtime or daily routines. Communication grows best when it feels shared, natural, and fun.

Our new Sharing Library is officially open!

Located right in our main waiting room, this little library is a place for families to discover new stories, share favorite books, and help foster a love of reading for children of all abilities.

The idea is simple: take a book, leave a book. Read while you wait, or bring back a book from home and trade it for a new adventure. We’re asking that all books remain kid-friendly and appropriate for young readers.

Right now, it’s stocked with some staff favorites, but we can’t wait to see the books our families choose to share. Happy reading!

Every day at Schreiber, our kiddos are surrounded by people who believe in them, cheer them on, and help them reach milestones big and small. Today we’re celebrating four women whose kindness, dedication, and heart help make that possible.

For the last 29 years, Megan Campbell-Roland has helped kids discover strength they didn’t even know they had. Her calm, supportive physical therapy sessions help kiddos feel safe enough to try, keep going, and celebrate every milestone along the way. Thank you, Megan, for the steady care and encouragement you bring to Schreiber each day.

Alissa Popalis has spent the last 16 years helping kiddos grow through creativity, flexibility, and fun. Whether she’s supporting fine motor skills or sensory challenges, she has a gift for connecting with each child and helping progress feel exciting and achievable. Thank you, Alissa, for the energy and compassion you bring to every session.

For the last 10 years, Lisa Moore has been one of the first smiles families see when they walk through our doors. She makes every child feel noticed, welcomed, and important before therapy even begins. Thank you, Lisa, for helping Schreiber feel like a second home for so many families.

Over the last year, Jess Seager has become a warm and welcoming presence at Schreiber’s front desk. Her kindness, patience, and positivity help families feel comfortable from the moment they arrive. Thank you, Jess, for the care and encouragement you bring to our kiddos, families, and team each day.

Please join us in celebrating Megan, Alissa, Lisa, and Jess for the incredible care they pour into Schreiber every day. Are you ready to join our team and help our kiddos grow with confidence and joy? https://www.schreiberpediatric.org/careers/career-opportunities/
