According to AARP, most older American adults want to remain in their single-family homes. 🏠

If staying in the home you love is your goal, making proactive choices today can help make that possible for years to come.

Sometimes, simple additions like a grab bar or a stair lift can make all the difference in maintaining safety, comfort, and independence at home.

The top shelf shouldn’t decide when it’s time to leave home.

For many older adults, the kitchen is the first room that stops working. Upper cabinets that were fine at 45 become a daily stretch at 75, and for someone using a wheelchair they’re out of reach entirely. It’s often one of the first places independence starts to slip.

We’re proud to bring Ropox height-adjustable wall cabinets to homes and care settings across our region. With one touch of a button, the cabinet lowers to a comfortable height. Touch it again and it goes back up.

✔️ Designed and engineered for maximum accessibility
✔️ Fits into new or existing kitchens
✔️ Works for everyone in the home: seated, standing, young or old
✔️ Supplied by the ProCare Innovations team

Accessibility shouldn’t look clinical. These cabinets look like any well-designed kitchen, and they keep up with the people who use them.

If you’re planning for aging in place, or you design for senior living, healthcare or accessible housing, we’d love to show you what’s possible.

Your home should be a place where you feel the most comfortable.

Thoughtful features like adjustable-height countertops and wall cabinets that lower to an accessible level can make everyday kitchen tasks simpler, helping you stay independent in your home.

Limited mobility doesn't have to keep you from preparing your favorite meals for the people you love most.

Most of us want to grow older in the home we love. The trick is making that home ready for us.

3 out of 4 adults over 50 say they want to stay right where they are as they age. Not a facility, at home. The kitchen where the grandkids eat cereal, the porch, the neighbors who wave every morning.

But here’s the part few are talking about: most of our homes were built for 35-year-old legs. The bathtub with the high wall. The bed that’s a little too low. The three steps at the front door. The staircase that used to be nothing, now feels like a mountain.

So what matters most to someone who wants to stay home?

Doing things themselves. Getting dressed, making coffee, answering the door.

These things matter to them, and to the kids and loved ones who call every night.

The good news is that keeping that normal, everyday life doesn’t mean turning the house into a hospital room. It usually means a handful of small, smart changes:

🛁 Grab bars by the toilet and in the shower. The simplest fix there is, and the one most people wish they’d done sooner.

🚿 A shower chair or transfer bench, so bathing is something you can do on your own again instead of something you dread.

🪜 A stairlift, so the second floor doesn’t quietly become off limits. Your bedroom stays your bedroom.

♿ A ramp at the entry, so a walker or wheelchair doesn’t mean being stuck inside, and the grandkids can still come running up to the door.

🛏️ A raised toilet seat or an adjustable bed, so getting up and down stops being the hardest part of the day.

🚶 A rollator with a seat, so a walk to the mailbox or around the block is still on the table.

None of these change who you are. They just take away the reasons you’d have to leave.

If you’ve got a parent or grandparent who’s determined to stay home (and let’s be honest, most are), start with the bathroom, the bedroom, and the path between them, including the stairs and the front door. That’s where safety and independence meet.

Who in your life is aging in place? We’d love to hear what’s worked for your family. 💬
