The holidays are a wonderful time to connect with loved ones and reflect on the year, but they can also disrupt routines, especially for those in post-acute care. At Mirage Post Acute, your well-being and recovery remain our top priority. Here are a few friendly reminders to help our residents and their families have a safe and healthy holiday:
Wash your hands!
Sharing good cheer with friends and family doesn’t have to mean sharing germs, too. Washing your hands frequently is a cost-effective way to help protect yourself from cold and flu viruses. Use lots of soap and water when you wash your hands under running water, and try to scrub them for at least 20 seconds. If you’re not near a sink, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol is an inexpensive alternative.
Get a flu shot!
The holiday season overlaps with flu season. People typically travel more, and spend more time around other people during this time of year. Flu vaccination is the most effective way to prevent flu outbreaks.
Hydrate!
When you’re distracted by holiday tasks, you may forget healthy habits like staying hydrated. When you’re not hydrated, you’ll have less energy and be more likely to experience headaches.
Rest!
Sleep isn’t optional; getting enough sleep is essential for emotional resilience, immunity and overall wellness. You can make sleep a priority by practicing good sleep hygiene.
Stay strong!❤️🩹
