For the last 11 years, this amazing woman has cultivated, sustained and made tremendous sacrifices for the gem of a studio we call Firefly.
Over the past decade, while other yoga spaces in the area have come and gone—and COVID ravaged so many small businesses—Abbey’s grit and determination have kept this studio alive, some years with Firefly hanging by a thread.
But whenever she has been faced with the possibility of packing it up, she comes back to the same reasons she won’t let it go, no matter how exhausting some days can be: the community, the people and the magic of connection.
Whenever we try to give her credit or call her the studio owner, she reminds us: “It’s everyone’s studio.”
Abbey is a unicorn—full of color, beauty and uniqueness. She inspires the people who cross her path with her vibrant smile and whimsical vision. And like a unicorn, she’s hard to tame. She consistently creates her own lane, unapologetically breaks from the norm and runs wild toward adventure and creativity.
Her generosity knows no bounds. She loves—absolutely loves—taking care of people. She remembers what you tell her and what matters to you, and she’ll ask about it even if it’s been six months since the conversation.
THIS is what built Firefly.
We simply wanted to give Abbey some much-deserved credit because the work she does every day to keep these studio doors open is changing—and even saving—lives.
She will, of course, shrug off the praise. But her impact on the greater Lansing community cannot be denied, and we are so grateful to be a small part of what you’ve built, Abbey.
Let’s continue to Love Up, Lift Up and Light Up the Capital City!
We love you, Abbey.
