Planned Parenthood of Michigan (PPMI) has announced that its Lansing, Livonia, and Warren health centers are permanently closing, effective today, following continued federal attacks on funding for essential care.

These painful decisions are being made to ensure PPMI can continue serving patients for generations to come, underscoring that the fight for reproductive freedom in Michigan is far from over, because legal protections on paper alone are not enough to protect access to care.

"Under Donald Trump, abstinence is back, except this time, it’s not discouraging teen pregnancies — it’s pushing those teens to forgo contraception, get married, and plan their lives around having babies. And it’s stripping money from the programs that sent teen pregnancy rates tumbling to put toward those that tell teens that actually, reproduction is the goal."

Abstinence-only education is a proven disaster. But the new plan is somehow even more dangerous.
