Breath of Life was founded in 2007 to provide women in the Tampa Bay area with a safe alternative to traditional medical care before, during and after their childbearing years. Staffed by award-winning Certified Nurse Midwives, Breath of Life is Tampa Bay's only nationally-accredited freestanding birth center. We offer exceptional care for women who are seeking a natural pregnancy, labor and birth

, as well as for those seeking a more personal well-woman care experience. Breath of Life follows the Midwives Model of Care and has so far welcomed over 1,600 babies into the world in its three water birth-ready birth suites. All major insurance plans, self-pay and Pregnancy Medicaid are accepted.

Breath of Life Birth Center Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Breath of Life Birth Center will be closing its doors beginning April 30th.

While we will no longer be accepting new clients, please know that our current clients are our top priority, and we will continue to care for all until each and every one has found a new provider. Our goal is a smooth transfer of care, and if needed we will help to facilitate the process to the best of our ability.

We are incredibly grateful for the love and support you have shown us over the years as we have had the privilege of working with amazing women like you. Thank you for your trust and belief in our care that has meant so much to us.

Attention Breath of Life Moms - Hurricane Idalia Update!

Breath of Life will remain open for labor and birth unless there is a loss of power or we receive evacuation orders.

If you think you are in labor, please call the labor line VERY EARLY to speak with the midwife on call and to allow time to make a plan. Call: 727-216-1420, press 1

You and the midwife will make the plan that works best for you at that time: whether to head to the birth center OR the nearest hospital.
