Dwellyoga Student
of the Month: Adam Uribe! ✨🙌🏼💕
(& he has great taste in music— this Doobie Brother song dedicated to you Adam 🎶:)

I’ve been practicing yoga for a little over four years now. I originally got into it to help with my running because it seemed like I was always getting injured. Not only did it help, but it far exceeded my expectations.

At first, I thought yoga was mainly about flexibility and stretching. What I came to learn was how much the practice involves strength, balance, breathing and the way it challenges me mentally and spiritually. I love that every practice feels different, both mentally and physically, and it has a way of keeping you humble. Some days I feel like I’m making real progress, and other days I feel like I’m just starting all over again.

As the years have gone by, I’ve realized that yoga has done much more than help prevent injuries while running. The practice has had a positive impact on my everyday life as well. Fast forward four years, and I’ve found that I’m now running to help me with my yoga.

I’d like to thank the amazing teachers, past and present, at Dwell that have helped me along the way. I started with absolutely ZERO experience and jumped straight into a hot flow class. Over the years, I’ve tried to share the experience by bringing my wife, family, friends, and coworkers. They’ve all loved it just as much as I have.

Dwellyoga Student of the Month 💗🌸
So much love for Melissa Ramirez—showing up with courage, grace, and heart through it all. We are honored to practice alongside you. ✨

My name is Melissa, and I began my yoga journey with my daughter, Karyna, about three years ago. What started as something special we shared together has grown into something I deeply rely on in my everyday life.

This past year has been incredibly challenging after being diagnosed with pleomorphic lobular carcinoma in situ (pLCIS). Yoga has helped me slow down and return to myself during moments when everything feels overwhelming. It has made me physically and mentally stronger, improved my flexibility, and my favorite class Bikyasa has pushed me to grow in ways I never expected, both on and off the mat. Even outside the studio, I can hear Jess’s voice reminding me to breathe, stay present, and be gentle with myself guidance that has grounded me and helped me make thoughtful, calm decisions during some of my hardest moments.

As I prepare to face my next challenge a bilateral mastectomy in February I will lean heavily on breathwork to carry me through until I am able to return to the mat, trusting in God’s grace and healing along the way.

With so many blessings to look forward to in 2026, I am filled with gratitude. My son will marry his beautiful fiancée, my daughter will graduate with her bachelor’s degree and has applied to pursue her master’s, and I will continue to watch our grandchildren grow. I am especially thankful for my husband my best friend who has been by my side every step of the way. I am also deeply grateful for my wonderful family, supportive friends, and caring coworkers who continue to surround me with encouragement, love, and strength. Through both my blessings and my struggles, God has reminded me how profoundly thankful I am for the people in my life and the love that helps me show up for myself each day.

Much love and gratitude to Jess, the Dwell community, and all my fellow yogis for creating such a supportive, nonjudgmental space. Thank you for being part of this journey with me.

This New Year’s Eve warm yoga class is a slow, movement-based practice rooted in breath and mindful flow. Expect gentle movement, longer holds, a guided sankalpa meditation, and moments of stillness to help you clarify an intention and stay connected to it as you move into the year ahead.
