🔥 What should you expect after a Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)?

Relief from RFA is not always immediate.

It is common to experience temporary soreness, tenderness, muscle tightness, or even a brief increase in pain following the procedure. This is typically part of the normal healing process and does not mean the procedure was unsuccessful.

🧊 To help manage discomfort:
• Apply ice for 15–20 minutes
• Stay active with light activity
• Tylenol® may help
• NSAIDs may be used if approved by your physician

⏳ When will it start working?

RFA works by disrupting small pain-carrying nerves. These nerves gradually stop transmitting pain signals through a process known as Wallerian degeneration.

Most patients notice improvement within 2–4 weeks, with maximum benefit often occurring by 4–8 weeks.

📅 Pain relief commonly lasts 6–18 months, although results vary from patient to patient.

Questions after your procedure? We’re here to help.

☀️ Could low vitamin D be making your pain worse?

Vitamin D is produced naturally when your skin is exposed to sunlight and plays an important role in bone health, muscle function, and overall wellness.

Research has shown that low vitamin D levels may be associated with:

• Increased musculoskeletal pain
• Muscle weakness and fatigue
• Reduced physical performance
• Increased pain sensitivity in some individuals

Living in Las Vegas doesn’t automatically guarantee adequate vitamin D levels. Many people spend most of their day indoors, regularly use sun protection, or have medical conditions that affect vitamin D absorption.

If you’re struggling with persistent neck pain, back pain, joint pain, or muscle aches, it may be worth discussing vitamin D testing with your physician.

At Nevada Pain Management, we believe effective pain care starts with understanding the whole patient—not just the symptoms.

Vitamin D deficiency is only one potential contributor to pain. Not all pain is caused by low vitamin D, and patients should consult their healthcare provider for personalized medical advice.

Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) is an advanced, minimally invasive therapy designed to help manage chronic nerve pain when conservative treatments have failed.

The system works by delivering gentle electrical stimulation to the spinal cord to help interrupt pain signals before they reach the brain.

At Nevada Pain Management, every patient first undergoes a trial period to determine whether spinal cord stimulation provides meaningful relief before considering permanent implantation.

SCS may help improve:
• Chronic back and leg pain
• Failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS)
• Diabetic peripheral neuropathy
• Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)
• Overall function and quality of life

As board-certified anesthesiologists and fellowship-trained interventional pain physicians, we utilize advanced image-guided techniques to provide personalized, evidence-based spine care.

Advanced guidance. Advanced care.

Fluoroscopy provides real-time imaging guidance during spine procedures to help improve procedural accuracy, safety, and outcomes.

At Nevada Pain Management, image-guided procedures allow for precise needle placement and visualization during interventional spine care. This advanced technology helps us deliver targeted treatment while avoiding critical surrounding structures.

As board-certified anesthesiologists with advanced fellowship training in pain medicine, precision and patient safety remain at the center of everything we do.

Precision matters in interventional spine procedures.

The loss-of-resistance technique is a foundational method used during interlaminar epidural steroid injections to help identify the epidural space safely and accurately.

As board-certified anesthesiologists, we first learned and refined this technique during residency training while performing hundreds of labor epidurals. We later advanced these procedural skills during pain management fellowship training at Cleveland Clinic.

Experience, tactile feedback, and procedural precision all matter.
