Next Week, Another Journey Begins.

Every year we prepare the ranch for a new group of strangers. By the end of five days, they're rarely strangers anymore. They're encouraging one another. Sharing meals. Laughing. Working horses together. Having conversations they haven't had in years. Participants leave with practical tools, new friendships, and a renewed sense of purpose that extends well beyond the ranch gates.

In just a few more days on September 1, applications open for our 2027 programs so don’t miss out!

We are so honored to have Dean include us in his story. This is what courage looks like.

Dean came to The Stable Arena carrying what many people do - pain that had been buried, not healed. Through our equine-assisted intensive program, something shifted. Not easily. But permanently.

Grooming is a targeted neurological intervention, not just a cosmetic task.

When we move a brush across a horse’s coat, we communicate directly with their nervous system. The goal is to trigger the ‘parasympathetic switch.’

Evidence Status: Proven. Rhythmic pressure on the crest, behind the ears, and the flank stimulates the Vagus nerve. This acts as a physiological brake, shifting the horse from alertness into a state of rest and recovery.

As a Science Translator, I view grooming through the lens of neuro-immunology. A regulated horse is a healthy horse. Precise stimulation doesn't just improve appearance; it lowers cortisol and supports systemic immune health. It’s the difference between looking good and being physiologically at peace.

What an incredible day of connecting, healing, sharing, and…horses!

Thank you to Fox5 reporter Evan Leake for coming out to our event and sharing these stories with such care and authenticity.

When Dean McAuley, a firefighter from Washington state who attended the Route 91 Harvest Festival - and when tragedy struck, used his training to help others — says that equine assisted EMDR therapy saved his life, that is the power of this work.

We also want to thank Yvonne, a survivor of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting, who spoke publicly for the very first time about her healing journey.

A huge shout out to Resiliency & Justice Center and our volunteers who make events like this possible and to everyone who showed up with open hearts

The horses don't ask questions. They simply respond to what's true. And for survivors and first responders carrying the weight of what they've lived through, that honest, non-judgmental presence can be the beginning of real healing.
