Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition where the cornea becomes thin and irregular in shape, resulting in blurred and distorted vision. Early detection and diagnosis are essential in preserving vision and preventing disease progression.

Treatment options vary depending on severity. In early or mild cases, soft contact lenses may help improve vision. As the condition advances, specialty contact lenses such as scleral lenses or rigid gas permeable lenses are often recommended to provide clearer, more stable visual correction.

One of the most effective treatments for slowing progression is Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL). This procedure strengthens the corneal tissue and can help halt or significantly slow the advancement of keratoconus.

Proper management and timely intervention play a crucial role in maintaining long-term visual function and quality of life for patients with keratoconus.

More Than Vision Correction—Myopia Control That Works for the Future

Standard contact lenses help your child see clearly today, but they don’t address the progression of myopia. Dual-focus soft contact lenses are designed to do both: provide clear vision while helping slow the eye's growth that contributes to worsening nearsightedness.

These innovative lenses feature a clear central zone for sharp distance vision and a specialized treatment zone that creates peripheral defocus—a technology backed by research to help manage myopia progression.

Benefits of Dual-Focus Myopia Control Lenses:
✔ Clear, comfortable vision
✔ May help slow myopia progression
✔ Daily disposable convenience
✔ No cleaning or storage required
✔ Great for sports and active lifestyles

Protecting your child's vision isn't just about seeing clearly today—it's about supporting healthier vision for years to come.

Can RK or LASIK actually cause keratoconus?

The answer is more nuanced than a simple yes or no.

In the past, surgeons didn’t have access to the advanced corneal imaging tools we use today. Some patients who seemed like ideal candidates for RK or LASIK may have had early, subtle corneal changes that were not detectable at the time.
In certain cases, those hidden risk factors may have contributed to later corneal weakening or ectasia.

Watch the reel as we explain the difference between keratoconus and post-LASIK ectasia — and how today’s screening methods have made refractive surgery safer than ever.
