Birth doesn’t always go according to plan, and that’s exactly why having the right support matters 💜

This mama planned a homebirth, but due to pre-eclampsia, her journey shifted to an induction and magnesium drip in the hospital. Even with all those changes, she still achieved her goal of avoiding an epidural 💪

I’m so grateful I got to support this family through such a powerful and unexpected birth story 🥹 My remaining 2026 availability for birth doula support and placenta encapsulation services is now updated ✨

Sharing this beautiful homebirth story with permission 💜

One of my favorite things about birth work is watching women step into birth differently after a hard or traumatic experience. Not because fear disappears completely, but because they feel supported, informed, and truly cared for this time around.

It was such an honor to be part of this powerful, redemptive birth and witness this mama bring her daughter into the world surrounded by love, trust, and support 🥹

Not everything meaningful belongs in a box. These tie clips were made from dried funeral flowers, two with mostly white blooms and one with the colored flowers. Designed for a tie, but easy to clip onto anything you keep close. I preserve flowers, breastmilk, ashes, hair, and more. If you're ready to turn something meaningful into something you can carry, I am here. 🫶

Those early hunger cues matter more than you think 🤱

Stirring, rooting, hands to mouth, lip smacking, these are your baby’s first “I’m hungry” signals.

Catching them early = calmer, easier feeds.
Waiting too long = a frustrated, hangry baby who just wants instant relief.

Watch for the whispers so you don’t have to respond to the screams!

My amazing client has given us the honor of sharing her accidental free birth 💜

This was my second time supporting this sweet family, just a little over a year since the last time. She is a true superwoman, and I’m so grateful for her permission and willingness to share her story.

⬇️ Birth story below ⬇️

"I went to bed at 40w1d after a membrane sweep, pumping, and miles circuit with nothing happening and no expectations that baby would be coming anytime soon. Then I woke up at 10:40pm to my first, very strong contraction, and knew baby was coming and it was going to be fast. I didn’t allow myself to think that for too long because I didn’t want that to be a hurdle I had to tackle later if that wasn’t the case. Instead I cleared and calmed my mind and surrendered to the contractions as they came, my next one within minutes, just as strong as my last, that first very intense one wasn’t just a fluke. After a couple more contractions each closer together and more intense than the last, I was already needing to vocalize to work through them. I knew it was time to wake my husband, with an urgency that it was time to start getting things ready and making calls to our birth team. He asked me if I really wanted him to already be calling everyone, I told him yes, calls started being made at 11:18pm. As he took care of everything I went into my own little world and labored mostly on the toilet, things continuing to intensify with shorter breaks in between and those breaks consisting of getting sick. Around 11:40pm things were feeling so intense as I labored next to our bed on my knees. My doula got there 11:44pm and started lightly rubbing my back through contractions, which is just what I needed to recenter myself as the intensity of things started to take over at the forefront of my mind.

After a few contractions I felt the need to go to the bathroom and made my way there, as soon as I sat down and another contraction came I could feel my body pushing. As I reached down to clean myself I could feel baby’s head and knew I wanted to get to the birth pool and needed to quickly. After another contraction, my body still pushing I ran to the pool and kept telling my husband to get the camera, it was 11:51pm. I knew that the baby was coming, and without our midwife. I felt calm and focused as my body continued doing the work for me. Another contraction and I felt my water break, as I reached down I could feel a full head of hair, baby was crowning. My body continued pushing and within a minute my baby shot out as I caught her and brought her up to my chest at 11:52pm. I was in complete shock in the best possible way. I felt like my body was on autopilot, she didn’t cry immediately, I gently rubbed and patted her back and suctioned her nose and mouth, as soon as I did that she let out the loudest most wonderful cry. At that moment I felt like my mind and body were able to take a minute and come back together after all that hard work.

This was my third baby and third home birth, the first that turned into an accidental free birth. Each one of my births have been so empowering but there was just something different about the way this birth made me feel. I was so proud of myself and my body for everything I just did. The intensity from the beginning really forced me to fully surrender my mind and body, and that was the best thing I could have done - no panic, fears, or worries only a relaxed and calm focus. The absolute most incredible high that I don’t know if I can ever fully put into words."
