Caring for others is at the heart of what we do - and that care extends to each other.

When Sunrise nurse Jennie delivered her baby at MountainView, NICU nurse Amanda was there to care for her family and to connect her with the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund, our employee-supported charity that helps colleagues through difficult times.

Because caring for our community starts with caring for one another. ❤️

🚑 Cohort 7 has arrived (and apparently, so have the mustaches). 🥸

Last week, the men and women of Cohort 7 officially began their journey at the MountainView Hospital Paramedic Institute! These prehospital professionals will spend the coming months building their skills through intensive classroom instruction, hands-on labs and clinical and field experiences, with graduation set for February 2028.

MountainView Hospital is proud to be the only hospital in Las Vegas offering a comprehensive education and training program for prehospital professionals across the Las Vegas Valley, working alongside local fire departments and private EMS agencies that sponsor and support our students.

We’re excited to follow Cohort 7 along the way. Judging by these photos, they’re ready to get to work — and a few of them have already nailed the classic first-responder mustache. 🚑💪

Welcome, Cohort 7!

Today is National Concussion Awareness Day. A concussion isn’t always easy to recognize, and symptoms may not appear right after an injury.

Learn the signs: headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea and difficulty concentrating.

❤️‍🩹Knowing where to go for care matters, too.

For mild symptoms after a head injury, such as a headache, mild dizziness or difficulty concentrating, visit one of our 20+ CareNow Urgent Care clinics across the valley for evaluation. More severe or worsening symptoms require emergency care: loss of consciousness, seizures or convulsions, a worsening or severe headache, increasing confusion, repeated vomiting, inability to stay awake, severe neck pain, or weakness in the arms or legs. Visit us at our main Emergency Department at MountainView Hospital or one of our three freestanding ERs.

⚕️When it comes to a head injury, pay attention to changing symptoms and choose the right level of care.

❤️ The best heart operation is the one that never becomes necessary.

We’re proud to see Nelly P. Chow, DO, Cardiothoracic Surgeon with MountainView Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Associates, featured in Las Vegas HEALS Magazine, sharing an important message about cholesterol, cardiovascular disease and the power of prevention.

One of the challenges with coronary artery disease is that it can develop silently for years. Someone may feel healthy while elevated LDL cholesterol and other risk factors are gradually contributing to plaque buildup in the arteries.

In her article, Dr. Chow explains why knowing your cholesterol numbers matter and why family history, genetics and recognizing less-obvious symptoms of heart disease, particularly in women, should be part of the conversation. Her message is an important one: prevention begins long before symptoms appear.

We’re proud to have Dr. Chow sharing her expertise with our Las Vegas community and helping raise awareness about the steps we can all take toward better cardiovascular health.

As part of HCA Healthcare, we're proud to announce a $4.8 million gift to Pepperdine University to help launch the School of Nursing with the Pepperdine University College of Health Science. This is part of HCA Healthcare's greater commitment to helping address the national nursing shortage.

“We believe that investing in nursing education is vital to the future of healthcare,” said Sammie Mosier, DHA, MA, BSN, NE-BC, senior vice president and chief nurse executive for HCA Healthcare. “It is a privilege to support Pepperdine University’s new School of Nursing as they prepare the next generation of caregivers with the tools, confidence and compassion to care for patients and communities.”

Pepperdine’s School of Nursing opened this fall and currently enrolls 68 students. The school provides undergraduate and graduate nursing degree programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and an Entry Level Master of Science, Clinical Nurse Leader (ELM-CNL). As part of their curriculum, nursing students will have the opportunity to complete clinical rotations at our hospital, Los Robles Regional Medical Center, in Thousand Oaks, California.

Alexis Mussi has always been a champion for culture, teamwork and operational excellence. We're proud to welcome her back to MountainView Hospital as CEO and look forward to the impact she'll continue to make across the HCA Healthcare Far West Division.

Welcome Alexis Mussi, new chief executive officer at MountainView Hospital!

This new position is a homecoming of sorts for Alexis, who led Surgical Services at MountainView Hospital before joining Southern Hills in 2016 as Chief Operating Officer, ultimately becoming CEO in 2019. Alexis began her healthcare career at Sunrise Children’s Hospital in 2008 as Director of Physician and Provider Relations, later advancing through leadership roles that fueled her passion for operations and strategy.

Alexis transformed Southern Hills during her tenure, growing the hospital from 134 to 331 beds and leading milestone projects such as the state’s first freestanding emergency room, ER at the Lakes, and the Division’s first psychiatric facility, the Pavilion.

Beyond these achievements, Alexis is known as a culture champion, bringing teams together to advance our mission -- the care and improvement of human life.

Congratulations Alexis and welcome back to MountainView!
