Vermont State School Nurses' Association The mission of VSSNA is to advance the practice of School Nursing and provide leadership in the delivery of quality health programs to the Vermont schools.

The Goals of the Association:

1. To operate exclusively as an educational organization on a nonprofit basis; to promote and advance the quality of school health services and health education throughout the State of Vermont.

2. To encourage school nurse to serve as a resource person in the area of health to teacher and other personnel; to promote activities for the improvement of comprehensive he

alth education.

3. To assist members in obtaining and maintaining high professional school nurse practices within the total school program under the administrative direction of the superintendent and principal of the school or schools to which the nurse is assigned.

4. To provide and to encourage its members to pursue continuing Education.

5. To inform and advise members on matters that have a critical bearing on the professional status in relation to state nursing standards, laws and regulations.

6. To cooperate with other professional organizations, civic groups, and community agencies for the improvement of provision of health services for school children.

Ready to enhance your career? Becoming a Nationally Certified School Nurse (NCSN), is a fantastic way to highlight your excellence. The scholarship application is open. Read below. 

The NBCSN Scholarship Program provides financial support to school nurses who serve or represent historically marginalized communities and are pursuing NCSN certification.

The program supports NBCSN's commitment to Justice, Equity, Belonging, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEBDI) by expanding access to national certification and empowering school nurses to strengthen student health and wellness while advancing excellence in school nursing practice.

55 scholarships are awarded annually, including up to 50 scholarships for recipients in U.S. states and five scholarships for DC and U.S. territories.

Scholarship recipients receive coverage for:
The application fee for the Spring, Summer, or Fall 2027 NCSN® testing window
The NCSN® Certification Review Book
The NCSN® Practice Exam Bundle
