Nevada Donor Network

Nevada Donor Network One heroic donor can save up to eight lives through the gift of organ donation and heal 75 more through the gift of tissue donation. What can YOU make possible?

Nevada Donor Network is a federally designated 501(c)3 not-for-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) also responsible for facilitating tissue and cornea donation statewide. Founded in 1987, our core purpose is to provide hope strength and life to more than 2 million people in the state of Nevada and thousands of potential transplant recipients across the country. Our primary functions as an

OPO are to coordinate, recover and allocate lifesaving organs and healing tissues for transplantation and research on behalf of our heroic donors. We provide education to hospital staff and community partners on the referral and donation process and provide a strong network of support for the courageous donor families who save lives through the gift of donation. Nevada Donor Network is a member of Donate Life Nevada, a statewide collaboration of agencies committed to motivating Nevada residents to register as organ, eye and tissue donors.

Thanks to the Sparks Fire Department for graciously providing hands-on fire extinguisher training to our team in northern Nevada! They shared their equipment and knowledge completely voluntarily. They answered a lot of questions and made sure everyone felt comfortable safely using a fire extinguisher. What a special way to keep our team safe.

Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month is coming to an end, but before it does, we would like to honor a heroic donor who gave the ultimate gift. Meet Jaime. He left a legacy of hope behind through organ, eye and tissue donation. Jaime’s loved ones shared, “Jaime “Jimmy” Pelen, was born in the Philippines in 1956. He lived a life of unwavering dedication, faith and love. Growing up in the vibrant Manila area, Jaime laid the foundation for his future through education and values. In pursuit of a brighter future, he immigrated to the United States, becoming a proud United States citizen and devoting 22 years of honorable service to the United States Air Force. After retiring, Jaime continued his commitment to hard work. He spent another 22 years with the United States Postal Service as a mail handler. Through 44 years of tireless effort, Jaime’s focus was always on his family. For 44 beautiful years, he shared a steadfast, loving partnership with his wife, Corazon. Together, they built a legacy of faith, love and resilience that endures for generations. Jaime was not only a devoted husband, but also the best father to Jamie (and her husband, Gaston), James Anthony (and his wife, Justine) and Justin. He was also a joyful grandfather to Noah and Kyrie. Jaime’s laughter was his signature. An infectious and joyful melody that could brighten any room. Jaime’s humor and zest for life brought us together. He also taught us to cherish every moment. It was Jaime’s deep faith and trust in God’s will that shaped our hearts. He reminded us not to focus on what we lack, but on the abundant blessings we have been given. Jaime’s legacy lives on in us, his children and grandchildren. An immigrant who realized his dream of raising college graduates, Jaime inspired us to leave our mark on the world with gratitude and integrity. We love you, Dad. We will carry your lessons, your laughter and your love with us always. Thank you for everything. Thank you for being you.” Inspired by the legacy Jaime left behind? Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month is a valuable time to pause and reflect. Our team takes pride in diversity and believes donation has no boundaries. Nevadans of all ethnicities and races register to be organ, eye and tissue donors. They make second chances at life possible. Our community partners make our mission possible. We would like to honor a partner and honor her memory. Meet Ana. Before she passed away, she shared, “As a long time Nevada resident, board member for the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce, community advocate, former community development manager, government affairs chair, teacher and volunteer, I have been involved with multiple community organizations. For the past 29 years, Nevada Donor Network has been a member of the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce. Nurturing our partnership and working hand in hand with Nevada Donor Network’s Multicultural Engagement Strategist, Adriana Connelly, has opened the door to many collaborative opportunities. We have been able to support each other at community events like the Asian Cultural Heritage Festival, Hope Glows and more. This is very impactful to each of our missions. Through these events, Nevada Donor Network has been able to provide educational opportunities and resources to our members. It is a good feeling knowing that we are celebrating the selfless act that organ, eye and tissue donation is for our community. Together, we make a difference. I truly believe that life is precious. The thought that our loved one will pass away one day is incredibly challenging to think about. It is important to know what their decision is when it comes to being a heroic donor before this time comes. Donation brings healing, life and more to those who receive the ultimate gift. Your gracious decision and kindness to register will continue to carry on the circle of life and leave behind a beautiful legacy.” Inspired by the ways Ana gave back to our mission?
