✨ Meet our newest team member: Maylin!

Maylin joined the Jean Nidetch Care Center at the beginning of the semester as our new Graduate Assistant. After previously serving as a Care Advocate, she’s excited to continue supporting our community while working toward her future career as a school psychologist.

🌵 Outside of graduate school, Maylin enjoys reading, hiking, thrifting, karaoke, and exploring cafes with friends.
We’re so happy to have her on the team! Welcome, Maylin! 🧡

🎨 Last week, we hosted Ink & Action with the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art!

We loved seeing familiar faces and meeting new people as we came together to create art and explore how advocacy can help keep our community safe. 🫟 Thank you to everyone who joined us, got creative, and took part in meaningful conversations!

We’re grateful to everyone who made this event special and hope to see you at our next one! 💜

Connect with community advocates, learn prevention skills, and participate in activities centered on healing and taking action against domestic violence. ✨

🍬 Come dressed in your costume and enjoy snacks, a dirty soda bar, a candy bar, fun crafts, and more! You can enter our costume contest for a chance to win a prize.

💜 We’ll be collecting donations for S.A.F.E. House NV. Bring full-size hygiene products, pajamas, or toddler socks to support victim-survivors in our community.

Last week, we got into the Homecoming spirit with our own themed spirit days, from dressing up as our favorite characters to traveling through the decades! We also joined the Homecoming Festival and had a blast connecting with our campus community.

✨ Meet Scott Hoffman, our Assistant Director!

Scott has worked at for 10 years and has partnered with the Jean Nidetch Care Center throughout his career to support students in distress. Now that the UNLV Support Team has joined the Care Center, he’s excited to work alongside our team and continue supporting the UNLV community.

🏒 Outside of work, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, traveling, watching Marvel movies, and cheering on the Vegas Golden Knights and New York Mets.

We’re excited to have Scott on the team and look forward to the work we’ll do together! 🧡

🐔 Want to learn how to support your peers?

Join our “Don’t Be Chicken: Active Bystander Training to learn how to recognize healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationships, identify warning signs, and safely intervene when something doesn’t feel right.

This training is tailored toward men, but everyone is welcome! Build skills to help create a safer campus community, learn how to get involved with the Care Center, and enjoy Raising Cane’s!

🎉 Congratulations Jeline, on being selected for the “Volunteer Spotlight” award! 🎉

🧡 Jeline Song is a psychology major with a minor in criminal justice, pursuing a career in clinical psychology. She has volunteered with the Care Center since July 2026.

✨ Meet Michelle, our September Advocate of the Month! ✨

🧡Michelle is a second-year Master of Social Work student pursuing a career in the mental health field, where she hopes to provide trauma-informed therapy and counseling. She has been with the Care Advocates since July 2026.

We’re teaming up with Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art for Ink & Action: Art Workshop! 🫟

Spend an afternoon turning creativity into advocacy. Paint a shirt, decorate a bandana, make a sign, or create something of your own with guidance from the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art and Care Center teams.

We’ll provide everything you need, and the event is completely free. Best of all, you get to take your own creation home! 👕
