🌿Mother Nature doesn’t always give Moms credit for their previous birth! Sometimes it’s just harder and takes longer, and there is no exact reason that we can tell you why.

💓 Within the wide range of normal, what can matter most is the preparation, endurance, and commitment of the laboring mom together with her family support. When you combine that spirit with private midwife care and a top-notch doula, we’re gonna help you get there!

Midwives are not “extra” to maternal healthcare systems, they are essential. 🤍

At the International Maternal Newborn Health Conference (IMNHC) 2026 in Nairobi, global leaders, policymakers, researchers, and maternal health advocates gathered around one clear message:
✨ Investing in midwives saves lives ✨

The conference highlighted:
🤍 The urgent global maternal health workforce shortage
🤍 The importance of respectful, evidence-based maternity care
🤍 The critical role midwives play in preventing maternal and newborn deaths
🤍 The need for stronger support, education, leadership, and sustainability within midwifery care

At Serenity Birth & Women’s Center, we see this every day.

Midwifery care is not only about birth, it is about prevention, continuity, relationship-centered care, education, advocacy, and supporting women and families across the lifespan.

Sweet Ava came to every prenatal visit- helping listen to her baby sister’s heartbeat, measuring her growth, asking thoughtful questions, and filling our visits with laughter.

Now she’s a big sister! And moments like this are exactly why we believe in family-centered care, because every member of the family matters, every step of the way.

🌿Let’s talk about the limits of prognostic certainty in pregnancy and childbirth.

❌Some diagnoses and conditions are absolute, but that category is more rare than obstetrics in routine hospital-based care lead us to believe.

💯Legal and ethical principles of informed consent should always guide us. The most common and often overlooked use of informed consent happens in the largest area where clinical recommendations are made based on the ✨best available evidence,✨ though without prognostic certainty.

🌿Informed consent about pregnancy and birth issues that involve known risks are not quickies. These conversations and decisions often evolve over more than one visit. Careful honesty, centering the patient, and knowledge about alternatives are some of the most important features of these conversations.

💜Midwives know that we all have different values and belief systems. Everybody deserves ethical and legal informed consent in their care.
