đ¨ **EEOICPA / OWCP SCAM ALERT â PLEASE READ & SHARE** đ¨
Scammers are getting bolder, and theyâre targeting current and former DOE workers by pretending to be from the **Office of Workersâ Compensation Programs (OWCP)**. They use real employee names, spoofed phone numbers, and fake websites to trick people into giving up personal information or money.
Hereâs what you need to know to protect yourself and your benefits:
đ´EEOICPA/OWCP will NEVER:
⢠Ask for your credit card, bank info, or payment through email or text
⢠Demand payment by wire transfer, gift cards, cash, checks, or money orders
⢠Threaten to stop your benefits if you donât act immediately
⢠Recommend specific companies or individuals to âhelp with your claimâ
đ´ Watch for these red flags:
⢠Someone claims thereâs a âproblemâ with your claim and pressures you to act fast
⢠Youâre asked to pay a fee to âfixâ or âspeed upâ your claim
⢠You receive emails that *donât* end in **.gov** or **.dol.gov**
⢠You see websites that look official but end in **.com**, **.org**, or anything other than **.gov**
⢠Youâre contacted by someone claiming to be from the âWorkersâ Compensation Board,â âState Workersâ Compensation Board,â or similar â these are NOT OWCP
đ´Spoofed Websites Are on the Rise
Scammers are copying the real OWCP website to steal your information.
Example:
â [www.dol.com/agencies/OWCP](http://www.dol.com/agencies/OWCP)** (FAKE)
âď¸ [www.dol.gov/agencies/OWCP](http://www.dol.gov/agencies/OWCP)** (REAL)
If you find a spoofed OWCP site, report it to: **[email protected]**
Your personal information and your benefits are too important to risk. Stay alert, stay informed, and share this post to help protect other nuclear workers and their families.
If you ever have questions about whether something is legitimate, reach out â better safe than sorry.
The .gov means itâs official. Federal government websites often end in .gov or .mil. Before sharing sensitive information, make sure youâre on a federal government site.
