What if your child doesn't know they're having trouble seeing?
Many children don't complain because they assume everyone sees the world the same way they do.

If your child squints, sits close to the TV, loses their place while reading, or frequently complains of headaches, it may be time for a comprehensive eye exam.

Just because your child passed a school screening doesn't mean they shouldn't have a comprehensive eye exam. The earlier a vision problem is found, the easier it is to help your child succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Myth or Fact?
If you have 20/20 vision, your eyes are perfectly healthy.

Myth.
20/20 vision simply measures how clearly you see at a distance. The first number represents the test distance, twenty feet. The second number represents the distance at which a person with normal eyesight can read the same line on the chart.

Many people ask whether 20/20 or 20/40 vision is better. 20/20 is superior. A person with 20/40 vision must stand twenty feet away to read a line that a person with normal vision can see clearly from forty feet away.

Visual acuity does not tell us whether your eyes are healthy. Many eye conditions develop without changing your vision in the early stages, which is why a comprehensive eye exam looks beyond the letters on the chart.

Seeing well is important.
Keeping your eyes healthy is even more important.
