Last week we stepped away from our usual routines for a day full of laughs, teamwork, friendly competition, and lots of memories with our amazing employees and the Thomas Nicolla team!

We’re so grateful for the people who make our workplace such a special place — the dedication, collaboration, and positive energy everyone brings each day doesn’t go unnoticed. 💛

Therapy tip Thursday… get outside!

Walking up hills, grassy yards, and uneven outdoor surfaces is more than just play—it’s a great way to build important developmental skills!

🌟Benefits of walking up an incline:
• Strengthens leg and core muscles
• Improves balance and coordination
• Encourages endurance and cardiovascular fitness
• Promotes body awareness and motor planning

🌟Benefits of playing in the yard:
• Natural obstacles encourage problem-solving and confidence
• Outdoor sensory experiences support regulation and attention
• Opportunities for running, climbing, carrying, and exploring build functional strength

Outdoor play provides rich sensory input through different textures, sounds, sights, and movements. Activities like pushing a wagon, collecting sticks, carrying toys, or navigating hills can help develop sensory processing, bilateral coordination, visual-motor skills, and motor planning.

Get out and get moving! ☺️

Tummy time doesn’t have to be one-size-fits-all!

If your baby is struggling with traditional tummy time on the floor, there are plenty of ways to modify the position while still building important strength and developmental skills until they can tolerate floor time.

✨ Over a therapy ball for gentle movement and support

✨ Propped over a Boppy pillow to make lifting easier

✨ Rolled towel under the chest for a small boost

✨ Chest-to-chest on a parent for bonding and comfort

These modifications can help babies practice lifting their head, strengthening their neck, shoulders, and core, and developing the skills needed for rolling, sitting, crawling, and beyond.

Remember: every minute counts! Finding a position your baby enjoys can make tummy time more successful and less stressful for everyone.

Tummy time starts from day one! 👶🏼

Those little moments on their belly help build the foundation for so many important skills — head control, strength, coordination, rolling, crawling, and even future fine motor development.

A few minutes at a time, several times a day, can make a big difference. Start early, keep it playful, and remember: tummy time counts on your chest, across your lap, or on the floor!

If your child has difficulty tolerating tummy time, click the link in bio to schedule an evaluation with one of our expert physical therapists.

Celebrating our next OT… Meghan!

We asked her…. What is your favorite part of OT. She said “My favorite part about OT is getting to help kids learn through play! I love discovering what sparks joy in each kid and how we can incorporate that into our sessions. I also love seeing all of the growth that our kids make.”

A fun fact about Meghan is she is expecting her baby boy in September!

Thank you for bringing great energy and even better relationships to the clinic! 💙💙

Celebrating our next OT… Alexa!

We asked her…. What is your favorite part of OT. She said “My favorite part of OT is being a safe space for people. No matter what, I want kids and families to know I will always hold space for them and they can be their most authentic selves around me without judgement.”

A fun fact about Alexa is she is expecting her baby boy in October!

Thanks for being you, Alexa!! ❤️
