✨We are honored to share the latest family experience with our Laureldale community:
My dad, Douglas, was admitted to Laureldale Skilled Nursing and Rehab on 5/14/2026. He arrived very upset and beside himself because all he wanted was to go home to his wife. We were extremely nervous about the transition because taking someone with dementia out of their comfort zone can be very detrimental to their mental and emotional well-being.
The first couple of days were difficult as he adjusted, but the team at Laureldale truly came together to help make him comfortable. They worked hard to learn his normal routine and tried to mimic it as closely as possible. That meant everything to our family.
His admitting nurses- Rachel, Courtney, and McKenna, took their time asking questions without overwhelming him. The unit manager, Mary Ann, personally came to his room, introduced herself, and provided contact information, which gave us reassurance right away.
All of his aides on all three shifts Linda, Sarah, Allan, Nyobi, Winsome, and Joseph went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable with his care, meals, and encouraging him to stay hydrated.
Social worker, Deb, made sure everything was arranged for home health and waiver services. Dietitian, Kaleen, came to his room to discuss meal preferences and make sure he was eating enough to get back to his goal weight.
The therapy department as a whole was an absolute blessing. The Nurse Practitioner, Hannah, sat down with my dad, truly listened to his comments, concerns, and needs, and then followed up with me personally. Pain management specialist Lauren also took her time speaking with both my dad and me, listened carefully, and made recommendations that truly worked.
When my dad arrived at the facility, he was very disoriented and in so much pain and unable to walk. I was terrified that he would need to remain in long-term care permanently, which would have been one of the hardest things our family could go through. But because of the incredible team at Laureldale, my dad spent 20 days there and is now able to return home safely.
I will forever be grateful to the Administrator, Director of Nursing, Director of Admissions, nurses, aides, CRNP, pain management, dietitian, dietary staff, housekeeping, and receptionists for the compassion, patience, and care they showed my dad and our family.
Thank you all so much,
Kathryn Newmoyer
