We are thrilled to welcome massage therapist and reiki practitioner Josie Hickey to the Tallgrass team!

🌾Josie grew up in Great Bend, KS where she spent most of her adult life. She and her partner recently relocated to Lawrence & between the two of them, they have 4 children- 3 teens and an adult.

🌾Josie’s deep compassion for others & a desire to help them connect with their own energy inspired her to pursue bodywork as a profession. She prides herself on providing a safe, nurturing space where individuals can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and feel supported physically, emotionally, and energetically. One of her recent clients described his experience with her as “gentle, yet so effective!”

🌾 In her free time, Josie loves crafting (especially making beaded earrings), practicing yoga, spending time in nature by taking hikes or bike rides with her family, or simply enjoying the sounds of the birds and the scenery around her.

We need to take a moment to shoutout two very special clients at Tallgrass, Roger and Rich, better known as The R & R Boys! 🤝 One of our favorite things about Tallgrass is the relationships we build with you, but what’s even better is seeing the connections you make with each other! Roger & Rich met because they both train with us at the same time on Tuesdays. They formed a bond and now they turn their Tuesday workouts into a weekly carpool event complete with bonus side quests after their workout! Roger has been training with Shannon for almost 7 years and Rich has been working out with Holly for nearly 2 years! 💪💪We love to see them getting stronger and they never fail to keep us laughing. Thanks for being such an important part of the Tallgrass family, R & R Boys! 🙌

Introducing this week’s client of the week: Chris! Chris turned 50 this past year and had a goal to make a lifestyle change by going to the gym and getting stronger. Chris can check off these goals already! ✔️ Because he has embraced the fitness lifestyle, he has recently lost 10 pounds (and counting)! He loves working with his personal trainer, Elizabeth, who has taught him so much about body awareness and proper form. His favorite exercise is the bench press, or anything that involves stretching & his favorite Tallgrass plant is the bunny ear cactus. His least favorite exercise is windshield wipers. Since working out at Tallgrass with Elizabeth, Chris has noticed changes outside of the gym that make everyday living so much easier. He does not get winded from going up five flights of stairs at work, his posture is improved, and he can ride his Peloton bike a lot more effectively. Chris has caught the fitness bug and we are here for it! 🏋️🪲💛

Let’s meet our client of the week this week: Lauren! Lauren came to Tallgrass with a few goals and she has been crushing them ever since. Lauren wanted to feel better physically and mentally. With the help of Tallgrass, she continues to gain more strength and endurance. Her favorite exercise to work on these goals is the goblet squat (always a classic!). Lauren’s confidence and mental health have improved quite a bit since working out at Tallgrass as well. 💛 Lauren loves that Tallgrass is a quiet environment with friendly people, and her personal trainer, Scott, holds her accountable and is a great cheerleader! Lauren’s favorite Tallgrass plant is the bunny ear cactus in the cat planter because “cacti are like cats: they are prickly on the outside and soft on the inside.” -Lauren. 😆 Thanks for spending your time with us, Lauren! 🤍💪

Happy Friday! We hope your 2026 is off to a great start! We wanted to share with you our updated class schedule for this year with one change. We’re taking a break from Vinyasa Flow on Fridays, but we still have our Sunday class at 11:30!

If you haven’t had a chance to try a class before, now is a great time to jump in! Classes are open to anyone in the community and are only $10!! Space is limited, so be sure to sign up by clicking the link in our bio or by calling us at (785) 917-8344 to reserve your spot!

Mondays at 5:00pm and Thursdays at 11:00am: Chair Yoga with Marta!
Join Marta for this peaceful yet strengthening class that’s appropriate for anyone at any level. If typical yoga classes don’t work for you but you would like to work on your balance, core, strength, and flexibility, chair yoga is a great, accessible class that will give you a fantastic workout with modified versions of traditional yoga poses and a relaxing savasana. You can do the entire class from a chair (or even a wheelchair!) or use the chair for balance if you’d like to try out some standing poses. Chair space is limited, so signing up in advance is a must!
