Richard Kannan Mallen passed away on August 24, 2026 at his home in Falmouth, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was the oldest son of Shaffie and Najla Mallen.

Richard was born on November 12, 1948 in Lawrence, MA. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and from Boston College. As an accountant and insurance broker he established Mallen and Company in North Andover, and for many years served his clients with a personal and professional focus that was so appreciated by many. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed his life with his family on Cape Cod and in Sarasota, FL.

Active in many nonprofit organizations, he proudly and most notably served Family Service, Inc. of the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire for many years. His work there with finance and development initiatives was recognized with that organization’s 2001 Community Service Award. Other organizations Richard has served include St. Anthony Church, where he is a parishioner, Central Catholic High School, and the former Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

Richard leaves his wife, Noreen, and his daughters and their spouses including Rebecca and Daniel DeFillippo, Nicole and Samuel Jackson, and Alexis and Patrick McManamon. He is also survived by his son, Matthew Mallen; a sister, Linda Mallen; and a brother David and his wife, Tammy Mallen. In loving memory of Neriah Marie Sullivan, who graced this world with her presence on December 17, 2001, in Methuen, Massachusetts. Neriah's journey through life, though brief, was marked by her gentle spirit and unwavering desire for peace and love. She departed from us on August 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and cherished memories.
Neriah was the beloved daughter of Dawna Guilmette and Brad Sullivan, and a loving sister to Matthew Sullivan. She was the cherished granddaughter of Linda Sullivan and Donald Guilmette, and she will be deeply missed by her aunts, uncles, several cousins, and her dear cat, Wasabi. She now joins her grandfather, Daniel Sullivan, great-grandmother, Anastasia Cullen, and family friend, Brian Teutonico, in eternal rest. Her therapy bunny, Meadow, too, awaits her in the fields of forever.
Her early years were spent in the nurturing embrace of Methuen, where she thrived academically and creatively. A proud graduate of Methuen High School's Class of 2020, Neriah achieved high honors and left an indelible mark by winning the 1st place in the 10th annual Arbeiter Holocaust Essay Contest in 2016. Thomas Delaney passed away on August 8, 2026. He was born in Methuen, Massachusetts on February 27, 1962, to the late Thomas L. Delaney and Elizabeth (McLaughlin) Delaney.

Thomas attended St. Mary Grammar School and graduated from Greater Lawrence Vocational School in 1980.

He began his career as a mailman and retired after 25 years as a letter carrier for the Lawrence Post Office.

Thomas enjoyed many trips with family and friends, especially his trip to Ireland, camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and most recently trips to Kittery, Maine with his cousin, Donald Delaney.

He was recognized in 2025 as an outstanding resident at Mary Immaculate Residential in Lawrence, Massachusetts where he lived for the past 23 years and had many friends.

Thomas loved the holidays and thoughtfully sent cards to family and friends for all occasions.

Thomas will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his sisters and brothers in law, Patricia and Theodore Roy, Kathleen and John McCarthy, two nephews, Jeremy Roy and wife Kristen, John McCarthy and Shayna Murphy, two nieces, Michelle Roy and Jonathan Rejniak, Erin Tanguay and husband Jack, his great nieces and nephews, Aubrey, Henry, Emerson and Tessa Roy, and Adeline Tanguay - who all loved their "Uncle Tom", also his beloved aunts, cousins and friends.

Douglas G. Gemmell (76) of Windham, New Hampshire, died Tuesday morning, August 4th, 2026, at home surrounded by family. He was born on January 8th, 1950, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Douglas and Marie (Schaab) Gemmell.

He grew up the middle child of three, between his sisters Carol and Sandy, both very dear to him. He was proud of his German and Scottish heritage. Doug made a name for himself on the hoop courts of inner city Newark and while playing for Barringer High. Recruited by multiple D-1 schools, he chose to make the University of Notre Dame his home, where he became a Monogram Winner and as a senior, was voted Captain of the Fighting Irish basketball team.

While at ND he developed lifelong friendships and a deep allegiance to his alma mater. He blessed his children with countless memories of trips to his reunions, ND football and basketball games, and regular adventures to Madison Square Garden for the Big East Tournament to "watch the Irish lose."

He worked in the Midwest after college before following his college coach, John Dee, to Colorado to work in the Denver auditor's office. He also served as head coach of the Denver Police Basketball team while proudly moonlighting as Colorado's only one-legged bartender. It was there that his great sense of humor and fun-loving spirit drew in another cohort of devoted friends and sparked a lifelong passion for great music. It was also where he met his wife, Nadema.

It is with deep sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of Gerry Bellmore, who peacefully departed this life on August 3, 2026, at the age of 76.

Born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Gerry lived a life defined by honor, integrity, hard work, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. As a proud Vietnam War Veteran, he answered his country's call to serve with courage, selflessness, and honor. The values he carried home from his military service—discipline, sacrifice, loyalty, and perseverance—became the foundation upon which he built his life.

Gerry was known for his exceptional work ethic and quiet determination. He believed in earning everything through honest hard work, keeping his word, and doing every job to the best of his ability. Brother Rene Roy, FMS died unexpectedly on August 3, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He was four days shy of his 86th birthday and in his 66th year of Marist religious life. Born on August 7, 1940, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Rene P. and Rita L. (Bourget)Roy.

A graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA, Brother Rene entered the Marist Brothers’ St. Joseph Novitiate at Tyngsboro, MA in 1959. He received the habit in 1960 and made first profession of vows in 1961. He made his final profession of vows in 1966 and took the vow of Stability in 1976.

Brother Rene graduated from Marist College in 1964 with a BA in English. Subsequently he studied at the University of Notre Dame (MA English 1971) and Marygrove College (MA Education 1976). He served in a wide variety of ministries. Upon completion of his scholasticate, he was a cook at St. Joseph Novitiate in Tyngsboro, MA (1964-65), a teacher at Central Catholic High School, Wheeling, WV (1965-72) and at Mount de Chantal Academy, Wheeling, WV (1972-73). He served on the staff of the Marist Novitiate at Cold Spring-on-Hudson, NY (1973-76) and as a campus minister at St. Agnes Boys High School, New York City (1976).

Robert “Bob” F. Donahue, Jr., 67, of North Andover, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, after a lifetime of courage and resilience in living with diabetes.

Bob was the beloved son of the late Robert F. Donahue and Anna (Evangelos) Foster. Born and raised in North Andover, he treasured his childhood years, where he could often be found fishing, playing street, floor, and ice hockey, and creating lifelong memories with his sisters, Hope, Theresa, and Denise. He shared a particularly close bond with his grandparents, Dennis and Antigoni Evangelos, whose love and guidance helped shape the man he became.

Bob began his career in the masonry trade before earning his college degree and transitioning into accounting and bookkeeping, where he worked at Salem Ice Center and Lake Street Garden Center. While he enjoyed his work, some of his happiest years were spent volunteering as a youth hockey coach at Salem Ice Center. He found genuine joy in encouraging young players, sharing his knowledge of the game, and watching them grow both on and off the ice.

Bob possessed a remarkable creative spirit. He enjoyed wood carving, painting, landscape design, and writing poetry, expressing both his artistic talents and his deep faith in God. Through his poetry, he sought to celebrate the beauty of life and encourage others to recognize the gifts and blessings that surround them.

Sonia was born on December 8, 1952, in Jayuya, Puerto Rico. She lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and devotion to her family. A faithful member of Yeshua Roca Firme Church, Sonia found strength and peace in her relationship with God and was an inspiration to those who knew her.

Above all, Sonia cherished her family. She was a loving mother whose care, wisdom, and unwavering love will remain in the hearts of her children forever. She is survived by her beloved sons, in order from oldest to youngest: Jose Medina, Luis Gustavo Torres, and Angel Pabon. Her legacy of love, faith, resilience, and compassion will continue to live on through them and all who were blessed to know her.

Though our hearts are saddened by her passing, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with the Lord. Sonia’s gentle spirit, warm smile, and loving heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Constance Louise (née Joy) “Connie” Cronin, 89, of North Andover, Massachusetts.

Connie was born into eternal life on July 23, 2026, after a brief illness, at The Lawrence General Hospital.

She was born on August 25, 1936, in Worcester, MA, where she grew up. Connie was the daughter of the late William H. and Madeleine (Tardif) Joy.

She attended and received her RN degree at Worcester City Hospital. She worked at Beth Israel Hospital, Mass Eye and Ear, and as a Visiting Nurse. She also spent many years as a loving wife to the late John A. Cronin, and a loving mother to four children who survive her. A deeply devout Roman Catholic, she was a daily attendant at Daily Mass at St. Michael Church, North Andover for many years.

She was also very active in the pro-life movement in many ways. And she was an active volunteer in the Special Needs Religious Education at St. Michael’s.

She is survived by her four children, John Cronin of North Andover, Anne Marie and her husband Darren Tennison of Federal Way, Washington, Daniel Cronin and Linda of Haverhill, and Christopher Cronin and Gwen of Warren, Rhode Island. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Brady Tennison, Wyatt Cronin, Ella Cronin, Cerys Robinson and her husband John, and Sasha McCabe. And she is survived by many nieces and nephews.
