🕯️ Why I Light

Communities of Light has been bringing our community together for 25 years, reminding us that even the smallest light can make a difference.

This year, we’re sharing the voices behind the luminaries-neighbors, community leaders, staff members, volunteers, partners, and supporters- each with their own reason for lighting the way.

Because every light represents someone. And every story reminds someone they are not alone.

This week, we hear from Maireny, our Bilingual Hotline Advocate.

💜 Join us on October 26 as we continue a 25-year tradition of bringing hope, remembrance, and community to Mercer County.

Gloria Steinem spent her life using her voice to advocate for equality, dignity, and the rights of women. She challenged us to speak up, to stand together, and to never stop working toward a world where every woman is valued, respected, and heard.

Her courage opened doors, changed conversations, and inspired generations of women to recognize the power of their own voices. Her impact reaches far beyond any one moment or movement. It lives on in the work we continue to do every day at Younity, standing beside survivors, believing them, supporting them, and helping them move forward.

We are grateful for the path Gloria Steinem helped pave, for the conversations she was brave enough to start, and for the countless women she inspired along the way.

We will remember her, honor her legacy, and continue the work. 💜

For 50 years, one thing has remained unchanged:

Every survivor deserves to be believed.

While our name has evolved from Womanspace to Younity, our mission has never changed. For five decades, we’ve walked alongside individuals and families experiencing domestic and sexual violence- offering advocacy, safety, resources, and hope.

This year, we celebrate not only where we’ve been, but where we’re going.

Thank you to every advocate, volunteer, donor, community partner, and survivor who has been part of this journey.

Here’s to the next chapter. 💜

As students head back to campus and we welcome the start of fall, we're shining this week's Community Partner Spotlight on Princeton University's SHARE program- a partnership helping strengthen education, prevention, resources and support within our community.

No organization creates change alone. Some of the strongest communities are built through partnership.

Every day we’re grateful to work alongside schools, healthcare providers, law enforcement, nonprofits, businesses, municipalities, and countless community members who believe everyone deserves to live free from violence.

Together, we can reach more people.
Together, we can educate.
Together, we can build safe communities.

Thank you to all our incredible partners for the work you do every day.
