Everyone stay safe!

Ahead of the impacts the National Weather Service is forecasting from Hurricane Isaias, Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson has issued a declaration of local emergency.

The local declaration, which follows Governor Kemp's statewide declaration, activates certain emergency powers under the Gwinnett County Emergency Management Ordinance. The declaration allows for the use of all available County resources to address the storm’s impact.

The Gwinnett County Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor forecasts and coordinate with departments to prepare for the storm’s impact, including checking generators at County facilities and making plans to ensure 24/7 staffing in critical areas throughout the event.

Residents are encouraged to prepare their homes and families:
• Keep flashlights and batteries on hand
• Make sure you have enough food, water, medications, and pet essentials
• Charge devices and backup power sources
• Never touch downed power lines
• Never drive through flooded roadways
• Charge cellphones, electronic devices, and backup power sources ahead of the storm

Thank you to The Carter Center for another wonderful Mental Health event! Comedian and Mental Health Advocate Chelsea Handler and Rosalynn Carter Mental Health and Caregiver Program Director Neetu Abad spoke about “Making Mental Health a Higher Priority”. Chelsea was very open and transparent about her mental health and how she’s grown healthier since working with a therapist. Thank you Chelsea for sharing your story with us!

As the 2026 Georgia Recovers in Communities Bus Tour wraps up, we’re reflecting on the powerful stories of hope, resilience, and recovery we heard along the way.

The View Point Health team, including CEO Jennifer Hibbard, was proud to join several stops throughout the tour. We loved connecting with individuals and families in our communities and, most of all, hearing the amazing personal stories of recovery and transformation.

Thank you to the Georgia Council for Recovery, DBHDD, and Commissioner Kevin Tanner, for bringing these important conversations and stories directly to communities across Georgia. Together, we’re celebrating recovery and reminding people that hope and help are always possible.
