💡 Food for Thought
It's always interesting to hear someone say they'd rather get a cortisol shot than address the root cause of their discomfort.
Poor posture, improper workstation setup, weak muscles, and sitting in a non-ergonomic chair for hours each day can contribute to chronic pain and inflammation. While injections may provide temporary relief, improving posture, movement habits, strength, and body mechanics can create lasting change.

Your body is always listening to the habits you practice daily.
🌿 Post-Op Corner: What Is Fibrosis?
Fibrosis is the formation of hardened, thickened scar tissue beneath the skin after surgery. It can develop when swelling, inflammation, and healing tissues become congested.
Signs of fibrosis may include: • Firm or lumpy areas • Tightness or restricted movement • Uneven texture beneath the skin • Discomfort during healing

Lymphatic and post-operative massage may help support circulation, reduce swelling, and encourage healthy tissue healing when performed appropriately and with your surgeon's approval.
💧 Hydration Reminder
Water matters!
Coffee, soda, and energy drinks do not replace proper hydration. While they contain water, they can also contribute to dehydration for some people.
Aim to drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially after massage sessions and during post-operative recovery.

👙 Post-Op Recovery Reminder
Consistency matters.

✔️ Wear your faja or compression garments as directed. ✔️ Stay hydrated. ✔️ Follow your surgeon's instructions. ✔️ Attend your post-op appointments.

Remember: You cannot expect 1–5 sessions to erase months or years of tissue damage, inflammation, poor circulation, or the trauma of surgery. Healing is a process, not an event.
The best results come from consistency, patience, and following your recovery plan.

5 Risks of Getting a Massage With Sunburned Skin You Should Never Ignore

Sunburn compromises your skin’s integrity and heightens sensitivity, making certain wellness practices, like massage therapy, potentially harmful if performed too soon after UV overexposure. While therapeutic touch offers many benefits, applying pressure to sun-damaged skin can lead to complications. Here are five critical risks to consider before scheduling a session:

Intensified Pain and Discomfort
Massage techniques, even light modalities like Swedish or relaxation massage, involve pressure that can aggravate inflamed nerve endings in sunburned tissue. What should be a soothing experience may instead cause sharp, stinging sensations—especially on areas like the shoulders, back, and neck, which are commonly overexposed in Georgia’s sunny climate.
Increased Risk of Infection
Sunburn can cause skin to blister or peel, creating micro-tears in the dermal barrier. When these compromised areas are manipulated during a massage, bacteria from hands, tools, or linens may enter the wound, increasing the risk of localized infections—particularly in humid regions like Lawrenceville, where moisture-rich air fosters bacterial growth.
Worsened Inflammation and Healing Delay
Manual pressure stimulates blood flow, which is beneficial under normal conditions but can exacerbate inflammation in UV-damaged skin. Increased circulation to already heated, swollen tissue may prolong redness, delay natural repair processes, and extend recovery time.
Potential for Skin Damage and Scarring
Aggressive or even moderate manipulation of peeling or blistered skin can lead to further breakdown, scabbing, or uneven healing. In severe cases, this contributes to long-term textural changes or hyperpigmentation, especially in individuals with sensitive or darker skin tones.
Adverse Reaction to Topical Products
Many massage therapies use lotions, oils, or essential blends that can irritate sunburned skin. Ingredients like alcohol, menthol, or citrus derivatives may trigger burning sensations or allergic responses, compounding discomfort instead of relieving it.
To stay safe, wait until your skin has fully healed—typically 5–7 days for mild burns—and consult a trained practitioner if you're unsure. Prioritizing skin health ensures your wellness journey remains both effective and safe. Visit our website to learn more and book a session designed to help you relax, rejuvenate, and restore harmony. 🦋🦋🦋✨️

The women I work with aren’t trying to fight more. They are already exhausted.

What they are really trying to do is stop abandoning themselves.

For many women, self abandonment begins so subtly they don’t even recognize it.

Saying yes when their body is asking for no.

Ignoring their exhaustion because everyone else needs something.

Making themselves responsible for other people’s emotions.

Shrinking their truth to avoid conflict.

Staying disconnected from their needs in order to maintain connection with others.

Over time, this becomes more than a habit. It becomes a nervous system pattern. The body learns that belonging is safer than authenticity and that keeping the peace is safer than speaking up. That self sacrifice is safer than disappointing someone…

Then one day they find themselves anxious, depleted, resentful, and wondering why they feel so disconnected from who they are.

This is why I love the symbolism of Durga.

Durga is often described as a warrior goddess, but her strength is rooted in devotion.

She doesn’t fight for the sake of fighting.

She protects what is sacred.

The journey of healing isn’t about becoming more aggressive.

It’s about remembering that your body, your energy, your time, your voice, and your heart are sacred too.

Boundaries are not walls.

They are acts of self devotion.

They are the moment you choose not to leave yourself.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Until the woman you have been searching for is no longer something you have to find.

She is simply the one you finally came home to.

If you could use a little Durga strength & courage to fuel your inner fire, join me for the Goddess Yoga Summer Solstice Retreat June 20th or go deeper with 1:1 Somatic Yoga Therapy with me.

Get • Last client of the day. 🍷😂

The massage was to release the tension, the wine was just to make sure it didn’t come back.

Some people leave feeling relaxed… others leave fully committed to the wellness lifestyle. ✨

Good massage, good wine, no stress. That sounds like a successful session to us.
