Nobody warned me my joints would feel like this. 😤

We talk about hot flashes. We talk about mood swings.

But nobody tells you that losing estrogen means your bones are quietly losing density every single day.

Or that the joint pain and stiffness you woke up with this morning isn't just "getting older."

It's hormonal.

Here's what's happening in your body right now:

🦴 Bone density decreases rapidly — osteoporosis risk climbs significantly after menopause. What took decades to build can be lost in just a few years.

🦴 But first comes osteopenia — the stage before osteoporosis where bone density is already lower than normal. No symptoms. No warning signs. Just quietly happening inside your body while you go about your day.

🦴 Joint pain, stiffness, and inflammation become common — even without a diagnosis of arthritis. Estrogen was keeping that inflammation in check.

🦴 Muscle mass begins to decline — and here's what most women don't know: this starts in your 30s, not at menopause. After age 30 women begin losing 3–8% of muscle mass per decade. When estrogen drops that loss accelerates. Muscle affects not just your strength but your metabolism, your balance, and your ability to protect your bones from fractures.

This is not in your head.
This is in your hormones.

The progression nobody told you about:

Normal bone density → Osteopenia → Osteoporosis

Most women don't find out until it's already advanced. Don't let that be you.

We may leak. But we don’t quit. Still that girl. 💛

Nobody warned us that one sneeze could change everything. 😂

Meet Lilly Leakage — the uninvited guest who showed up somewhere between hot flashes and brain fog and decided to stay.

CrossFit? Brave.
Trampoline park? A gamble.
Telling a good joke? A risk we take daily.

But here’s the thing — we are STILL that girl. We’ve just added a pantyliner and a prayer to our morning routine. 🙏🏽

Can we be honest for a moment? 💭

Some of us aren’t overwhelmed because there’s too much to do…

We’re overwhelmed because we haven’t given ourselves permission to stop.

We fill our days:

not just with responsibilities
but with expectations
pressure
and the need to keep everything running

And somewhere along the way, “busy” becomes normal.

Even when:

you’re tired
you’re stretched thin
you don’t feel like yourself

So instead of asking, “How do I get more done?”
Maybe the better question is:

👉 “What am I afraid will happen if I slow down?”

Because sometimes the issue isn’t your schedule…

It’s what your schedule is protecting you from.

💚 This is a safe space—no pressure to have it all figured out.

If this hit, drop a 💚 or share what slowing down feels like for you.

Hot flash? More like Power Surge. ⚡️

If you laughed at that, you need to be in our group. 😄

Menopause, Midlife & Men is a Facebook community built for women navigating this season of life — and the men who love them.

We're talking about the stuff NO ONE warned us about:
🔥 Hot flashes & cold feet
🧠 Brain fog & "where did I put my keys?"
💛 Hormones, mood swings & intimacy
👫 Partners who just... don't get it (yet)

This is your space for:
✅ Real conversations
✅ Helpful resources & expert-backed tips
✅ Laughter (because if we don't laugh, we'll cry — probably both)
✅ A community of women who truly GET IT

Midlife isn't the end of the story — it's where you get to write the good part. 💛

Hey Sisters of Gwinnett! 💚

I am so glad to be in this space with you.

My name is Tracy Gainer and I am the owner / psychotherapist at Aniala Behavioral Health in Lawrenceville, GA—where we provide individual mental health counseling in a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space.

I want to be upfront about why I am here—not to sell anything or to pitch services (I have a waiting list) but to show up as a resource in this community. Because I know that so many of us are carrying things we were never meant to carry alone.

Over the coming weeks I will be sharing:

💚 Topics on mental health that actually relate to our real lives
💚 Conversations that are real, honest, and judgment-free
💚 Resources that are available right here in Gwinnett
💚 Insights on relationships, stress, anxiety, grief, and everything in between

I believe that when sisters have real information and real conversations—lives change. That is what I am here for.

I would love to start by getting to know this community. So tell me —

👇 What is ONE mental health topic you wish people talked about more openly?

Drop it in the comments. This is a safe space—and I intend to honor that every single time I show up. Remember, the information I provide is educational and provided to increase awareness and is not a substitute for clinical counseling.

Looking forward to growing with all of you. 🤍

💚

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and I just need to say this out loud in this space —

So many of us are carrying things we were never supposed to carry alone. We hold it together for our kids, our families, our jobs, our communities — and somewhere in the middle of all of that, we forget to ask how WE are doing.

This year's theme is More Good Days, Together — and sis, you deserve more good days. Not just surviving. Actually living. Actually feeling okay. Actually feeling like yourself again.

I want to share a resource with this group because I believe in making sure we know what is available to us right here in Gwinnett:

💚 Aniala Behavioral Health — Lawrenceville, GA

We provide individual mental health counseling in a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, grief, or just feeling like you have lost yourself — we are here for you.

You do not have to be in crisis to ask for help. You just have to be tired of not feeling like yourself.

If this resonates with you or someone you love, drop a 💚 below or send me a message. Let's normalize taking care of our minds the same way we take care of everything else.
