Everyone’s asking me about the Motiva Preservé technique — so here’s where I’m at.

Honestly? It’s still a little early for me to have a strong opinion. But I do think it has some philosophical issues.

First, you can’t place the implant below the fascia. It’s purely subglandular. And when we’re going above the muscle, I want every bit of coverage I can get.

Second, it’s a bit of a blind approach. I’d rather make the pocket exactly how I want, not be beholden to a balloon device.

And the recovery argument? Most of my patients don’t take narcotics anyway, especially with above-the-muscle implants. So I’m not sure that’s the win it sounds like.

I’m visiting the Motiva plant in Costa Rica in a couple of weeks, and I’ll share what I learn when I’m back.

One year post-op. This is what fully healed looks like.

This patient had a mommy makeover consisting of a breast lift with approximately 200cc fat transfer to each breast, a full tummy tuck, and liposuction.

The fat transfer allowed us to restore natural volume to her breasts using her own body’s fat — no implants.

At one year out, the swelling is long gone and the results have fully settled. Worth every bit of the wait.
