Can you believe this transformation!?! She went from a nice, sweet lady to a super model. Wow!! She is just over 6 months from a , lower blepharoplasty, SMAS lip augmentation, Erbium YAG laser skin resurfacing and . We added removal of the bottom 2/3rds or so of the submandibular glands about 2-3 years ago. This is been a game changer in my practice as it allows for the creation of the most beautiful and crisp jawline, not attainable before. I am now recommending this procedure on probably close to 75% of my facelift patients. If you can feel the gland sagging down into the neck just below the jawline (some sag far down onto the neck), then it might be the right thing for you. Don’t let people scare you, in the right hands and with the right equipment and expertise, it can be done safely without any side effects. After hundreds of cases, I have had 1 sialocele that resolved after 5 days with a drain, no hematomas, no permanent nerve injuries and no dry mouths. Literally, no long term issues ever. Not all surgeons do this procedure and not all do a deep plane facelift. That is why not all facelifts are the same and results vary significantly. No photography trickery here, same camera, lighting, head position, minor makeup changes, etc…. It’s all just from the surgery.

In my opinion, the “king” of facelifts is the . It’s the only approach that adequately addresses the mid-face, especially when you add the supra-zygomatic extension.

About a month ago, my daughter gave birth to a beautiful little girl. Yes, I am a proud new grandpa!! This picture is pretty special. My grandma is 101 years old. Having a 5 generation picture (my grandma, my dad, me, my daughter and my new baby granddaughter) is amazing. Being a Bitner with a father, grandfather and others who set an example and left a legacy of integrity and compassion means everything. With a father and grandfather who both practiced medicine, this reputations benefits my practice every day. Now, it is my opportunity to leave that same legacy for my grandchildren and those who will come after me. Not just in medicine, but in all aspects of life.

If you’ve been in the office the last few months, you might have noticed that Hannah has slowly developed a little bump on her tummy. Yes, she is expecting a beautiful little girl in a little over a month. Unfortunately for us, this means she is moving on to a new and incredible adventure. Here are her still photos. She is now 4.5 months out from a and neck lift, , and . I am blown away at how much younger, healthier and yet 100% natural that she looks. It’s her, only 15 years ago. The power of a deep-plane facelift is amazing, predictable and safe. I would never go to someone that doesn’t perform a true extended, preservation deep-plane technique. However, it’s not the technique alone that produces the results, it’s the surgeon. There are tiny, artistic modifications to every surgery that allows each operation to be customized to every unique face. We will separately post her still photos with all angles for comparison.

How important is your after care support? Having a friend, child, spouse or other family member to help with your recovery makes a big difference! Some of the support they provide is physical (helping clean incisions you can’t always see, provide your medications on schedule, feed you) much more is the emotional support they give. When you’re bruised and swollen and really second guessing your decision to have surgery (a very common emotion during recovery) it’s so nice to have a cheerleader helping you “see” the results even when you don’t. We do have overnight care available with one of our excellent and attentive nurses (for those who don’t have a lot of support) but having help during your first week especially is invaluable. This patient’s husband describes his role during his wife’s first couple weeks after a facelift. I thought his words were very insightful.
