Feeding your baby shouldn’t feel like a constant struggle.

👀 Does your baby constantly have their mouth open?!

It might be telling you more than you think!

When your baby is resting, their tongue should naturally rest against the roof of their mouth (palate), with their lips gently closed.

But what if it doesn’t?!

Mouth breathing can sometimes be a sign that your baby’s tongue isn’t resting where it should. This can happen for several reasons, including oral tension, restricted tongue movement, tongue ties, or nasal airway concerns.

👅 In this video, we’re gently assessing tongue movement and encouraging tongue-to-palate contact!

These little movements help us better understand how your baby’s mouth and tongue are functioning.

“Should they be talking more by now?”

“Why can I understand them, but no one else can?”

“Is this something they’ll grow out of… or should I be asking for help?”

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering about your child’s speech or communication, this post is for you.

Did you know communication starts WAY before first words?

For babies, learning often looks a whole lot like PLAY!

Exploring teethers, making silly sounds, blowing raspberries and taking turns back and forth are all little ways we can support oral exploration and early communication.

And the best part? These are things you can practice at home, too! Follow your baby’s lead, copy their sounds, pause and give them a chance to respond, and turn everyday play into opportunities to connect.
