Today was one of those days that reminds us just how special this community truly is.
The morning began with another wonderful session of Mimosas & Art with the incredibly talented Sharon Zapata. Residents enjoyed delicious mimosas while putting the finishing touches on their latest masterpieces, filling the room with creativity, conversation, and plenty of laughter. Sharon's passion, patience, and dedication each week have helped make this class something our residents genuinely look forward to, and today's tropical twist made it even more memorable. Thank you, Sharon, for sharing your gifts with us and helping our residents discover their own.
Then came the event everyone had been waiting for...
The Grand Luau.
We are incredibly proud to share that 110 residents joined us for today's celebration. To put that into perspective, that means nearly half of our entire resident population came together under one roof to laugh, celebrate, and make memories. Seeing so many smiling faces in one room is exactly why we do what we do.
Residents were transported to the islands with beautiful live Hawaiian music before being captivated by an energetic performance of traditional Hawaiian dance that had the entire audience clapping, smiling, and moving along. And just when everyone thought the afternoon couldn't get any better, we gathered outside for an unforgettable fire dancing finale that left the crowd cheering.
Of course, no luau is complete without incredible food. Our outstanding Culinary team, led by Dining Room Manager Sal and Executive Chef Kevin, prepared a feast that had residents returning for seconds... and yes, even thirds! From Hawaiian BBQ and sweet rolls to Chef Keith's beautiful fresh fruit display and pineapple upside-down cake, every bite reflected the care and pride our culinary team brings to everything they do. And our signature chilled Lava Juice, a refreshing blend of strawberry margarita and pineapple, kept everyone cool throughout the celebration.
Events like this don't happen because of one department. They happen because an entire community comes together.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful community partners, Rebecca Amrhine with North Star Hospice and Carla Jones with Choice Hospice, for jumping in to serve our residents with such kindness throughout the afternoon.
Thank you to our Sales Director, Toni, for her vision and unwavering support, and to Rebecca and Eva from our Sales team for helping everything flow so smoothly behind the scenes.
Thank you to our Maintenance Director, Gabe, for always being ready to solve whatever challenge comes his way, and to our Health & Wellness Director, Marina, for stepping in immediately to keep things moving whenever congestion developed.
Thank you to our Executive Director, LT, for doing what great leaders do best: leading from the front. You'll always find her in the middle of the action, serving alongside everyone else rather than simply watching from the sidelines.
And finally, thank you to our incredible FACETS Team. From early morning setup to the final chair being put away, they worked tirelessly with professionalism, heart, and a shared commitment to creating something extraordinary for our residents. They make difficult days look easy, and I could not be more proud of them.
There are so many other team members who contributed throughout the day, and every one of you helped make this event the success it became.
As the FACETS Director, I often receive the recognition for events like these. But the truth is much simpler: none of this happens because of one person. It happens because an entire team believes our residents deserve something exceptional. Every idea, every table set, every plate served, every chair moved, every problem solved, and every smile shared is the result of people choosing to care.
At Grand Living at Tuscan Lakes, we don't create events simply to fill a calendar. We create experiences that bring people together, strengthen friendships, spark joy, and remind our residents that this chapter of life can still be filled with wonder.
Today was another beautiful example of that mission in action.
Mahalo to everyone who helped make our Grand Luau unforgettable.
