“What is this social for?”
We get asked this question all the time!

Here at Town Village of Leawood, we love finding reasons to have a social... and sometimes, the reason is simply to spend time together! Last Friday was a perfect example with our Sweet Tea Social celebrating National Sweet Tea Day.

Sure, we had sweet tea and a tasty snack, but the real purpose was to create an opportunity for residents to come together, enjoy a mid-day snack or drink, and socialize with their neighbors.

In a large community like ours, it’s easy to cross paths with someone without ever really getting the chance to sit down and talk. Socials give residents that opportunity to meet someone new, catch up with a familiar face, or simply enjoy a conversation in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

These simple gatherings are one of the ways we help make our large community feel a little smaller. ❤️

So, the next time you see a social on the calendar, you don’t necessarily need a special reason to attend. Come for the treat, stay for the conversation!

Sunday Recap!

What a wonderful week here at Town Village of Leawood! Our residents stayed busy with games, learning, creativity, music, delicious food, and plenty of time together.

Monday was filled with games, from Mahjong and Xbox Bowling to a friendly game of pool. That evening, we welcomed Bill Cody for a special showing and discussion of Dunkirk.

Tuesday brought a packed art class, while our Spanish Tertulia Club spent the afternoon learning how to introduce themselves in Spanish.

Wednesday was a big day! We celebrated our August birthdays with a delicious luncheon featuring steak, potatoes, vegetables, and, of course… cake! We also celebrated National Aviation Day with a showing of Top Gun. That evening, residents took the stage for our Open Mic Night, sharing songs, stories, and plenty of talent with their community.

Thursday brought our gardening group together on the patio, Bible Study in the card room, and Bingo on the second floor. We also enjoyed a wonderful evening at Hecate’s Restaurant, featuring a Greek-inspired menu, beautiful décor, and a special dining experience.

Friday was filled with creativity and giving back as residents made cat toys to donate to a local animal shelter. We enjoyed a sweet tea social in the afternoon before wrapping up the day with Brain Games and a presentation on poet Robert Frost.

This weekend, we welcomed Diane to the community for a fun jewelry-making activity. Residents also enjoyed Left Right Center, bridge, and more!

From learning and creativity to games, music, good food, and giving back, it was another wonderful week at TVL. We’re already looking forward to what next week has in store!

What a beautiful day to be out tooling around in a golf cart through the botanical garden! 🌿🌸 Along the way, we were greeted by hummingbirds and monarch butterflies. 🦋 Our knowledgeable tour guides shared so many interesting facts, and we learned all about the amazing plants and gardens around us.🌺

Our card room is a favorite gathering place in the community, with residents regularly coming together for Bridge, Mahjong, Rummikub, Chess, and more. There’s always a game happening, and usually plenty of conversation and laughter around the table!

These ladies are busy keeping their minds sharp—or, as resident Trish put it, “just watching to look smart!” We love that sense of humor just as much as we love seeing our residents engaged, learning, and enjoying time together.

Rummikub is a great game for practicing strategy, pattern recognition, and problem-solving, making it both fun and mentally stimulating.

We’re especially lucky to have residents who are always willing to teach and encourage newcomers to join their games. Whether you’re an experienced player or have never played before, there’s always room at the table!

Sunday Recap!

What a wonderful week at Town Village of Leawood! We found plenty of ways to stay cool, get out and about, and enjoy time together.

On Monday, we beat the heat with a lunch outing to Rico’s. Tuesday, residents enjoyed art, singo, and new residents have a luncheon orientation to learn about their new home! Wednesday, we headed out to see the buffalo, enjoyed a picnic, and made a stop at Culver’s afterward! That evening, our lobby came alive with music as Ben Tervort and his bandmates treated us to a wonderful jazz performance.

On Thursday, we enjoyed a wonderful presentation about The Life and Art of Norman Rockwell, followed by meditation, and bingo . Friday, our card tables were filled with residents enjoying different games while others worked on balance during yoga in the fitness studio. This weekend, residents had the opportunity to play games, join Spanish class, or relax with a movie before ending the evening with some fun at Circle Sing-Along!

One of our favorite moments this week was seeing the kindness and friendships that make our community so special. One of our residents gifted a T-shirt to one of his favorite servers before she heads off to college—a thoughtful way to wish her well on her next adventure!

We had a great week filled with fun, learning, music, and time spent together. We’re already looking forward to everything next week has in store!

Sunday Recap!

We've been moving and grooving all week here at Town Village of Leawood!

Monday kicked off with fresh watermelon and fruit juice on the patio, followed by an afternoon of Music Bingo filled with great tunes and friendly competition.

Tuesday was all about learning during Tech Tuesday! Residents explored the settings on their phones, tablets, and computers, picking up helpful tips to make their devices work better for them. Our art class with Elaine also continues to grow, and we're so impressed with the beautiful artwork being created. Be sure to stop by the Bistro or Activity Room to check out the latest display!

Wednesday brought a trip to see the blockbuster film The Odyssey, which residents told us was a big hit! Before dinner, everyone enjoyed a lovely piano performance by Candace.

Thursday was packed with fun as residents went from Book Club to singing and dancing with John 'Br. John' Anderson , then cooled off with delicious root beer floats before an afternoon Bingo.

Friday offered something for everyone with a trip to the casino, shopping at Chico's, yoga class, and an engaging presentation on the story of Mount Rushmore.

Throughout the weekend, it was wonderful to see so many families visiting to celebrate birthdays and spend quality time together. Our community is always at its best when it's filled with family, friends, and laughter.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this week's activities! We loved spending the week with you and are already looking forward to everything next week has in store.

🎬We escaped into the epic adventure of The Odyssey today, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! We were glued to our seats from beginning to end, and the incredible special effects made every scene unforgettable. Definitely a movie worth seeing on the big screen🍿
