Share a Memory

Sometimes the best moments don’t require a planned activity, just a little time together.

Try pulling out an old family photo and sitting beside someone you love. If your loved one is living with memory loss, instead of asking questions like “Who is this?” or “Do you remember?” try making a simple observation:

-“Everyone looks so happy here.”
-“That dress is beautiful.”
-“Look at that old car!”
-“This looks like such a special place.”

Then give them time to respond. A story may come, or it may not. Either is okay.

You can also gently ask about favorite family meals, holiday traditions, music, pets, vacations, or dancing. Sometimes one small memory can lead to a wonderful conversation.

Caregiver Reminder: The goal isn’t always remembering, it’s connecting. Even if your loved one doesn’t remember the moment tomorrow, the happiness, comfort, and love they feel right now still matter.

What’s one family memory that always makes you smile? Share it with us below! ❤️

We often think about eating for our heart or energy, but what about our brain?

A balanced diet with vegetables, fruits, whole grains, healthy fats, beans, nuts, and fish can support overall brain and heart health.

The good news? Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated.

CAREGIVER TRICK: Think “ADD,” not “TAKE AWAY.”

Instead of changing favorite meals completely, add something nutritious:
Spaghetti -> add veggies to the sauce
Oatmeal -> add berries
Sandwich -> add tomato or avocado

TRY THIS TODAY: Aim for three natural colors on the plate. Small changes can make healthy eating easier, and food should still bring comfort, memories, and connection. ❤️

Caregiver Reminder: You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup

To the caregivers who give so much of themselves every day: we see you, and we appreciate you.

You spend your days making sure someone else feels safe, comfortable, cared for, and loved. But in the middle of caring for everyone else, it can be easy to forget about you.

So today, this reminder is just for you.

Take the walk. Enjoy your coffee while it’s still warm. Call a friend. Sit quietly for a few minutes. Rest when you can.

Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. You deserve the same kindness, patience, and love that you give so freely to others.

You don’t have to do everything perfectly. Sometimes, simply showing up with love is more than enough.

To all the caregivers in our community: thank you for everything you do. You matter, too. 💚

What’s one small thing you do just for yourself?

5 Ways Fresh Air Benefits Seniors ☀️
Sometimes the best medicine is simply stepping outside. Fresh air and sunshine can do wonders for both the body and the mind.
Here are a few benefits:
- Boosts mood and helps reduce stress.
-Encourages gentle movement and supports balance.
- May improve sleep by helping regulate the body's natural clock.
- Provides calming sensory experiences, especially for those living with dementia.
- Creates meaningful moments with the people you love.

It doesn't have to be a big outing. Sit on the porch, water flowers, watch the birds, or take a short walk together. Those simple moments often become the most treasured memories.

Caregiver Reminder: Even if your loved one doesn't remember the outing, they'll often remember how it made them feel.
