“Take care of yourself” can start to feel like background noise when you’re a caregiver. Not because it’s bad advice. But because it doesn’t match your reality. If your day is already full of other people’s needs, adding one more thing-even something good-can feel impossible. And when you can’t do it, it’s easy to feel like you’re failing at something you were “supposed” to do. You’re not failing. The advice just isn’t built for the situation you’re in. Sometimes what actually helps isn’t more pressure to do self-care. It’s having a space where you don’t have to hold everything for everyone else for a minute. That’s where support can come in.

It's Opening Day for us at North Oak!

Our team offers a wide range of evidence-based and holistic therapy approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs. Across all of our clinics, we serve children as young as 4 years old, adolescents, and adults, with support for concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and more.

One of our goals is to reduce barriers to care, which is why we accept most major insurance plans, now including Medicaid. We strive to make the process of getting connected to therapy as simple and welcoming as possible. We additionally have a therapy to client matching process that ensures you are scheduling with the therapist that is best suited for your needs.

You can call us directly at 816-355-4139 to get scheduled, or they are welcome to schedule online:https://elliementalhealth.com/locations/kansas-city-north-oak-mo/

Mother’s Day doesn’t land the same for everyone. For some people, it’s joyful. For others, it brings up grief, distance, or complicated relationships. You might be celebrating and still feel exhausted. You might be missing someone. You might be wishing things looked different than they do. All of that can exist at the same time. There’s no “right” way to feel about today, even if it seems like there is. However it shows up for you, you’re not the only one carrying it.

A little support can go a long way. Take the first step at elliementalhealth.com

For many in their 40s, caregiving isn’t just part of life-it becomes the center of it.

Balancing responsibilities across generations can impact your energy, your stress levels, and your mental health. You don’t have to carry it all on your own.

The weight of caregiving is real. Support on your terms can make a difference → elliementalhealth.com/

We tend to think a “good day” means everything went right. You were productive, patient, focused, on top of it all. But most days don’t look like that. Sometimes a good day is getting out of bed when you didn’t want to. Or not spiraling when something small goes wrong. Or doing less... on purpose. Good doesn’t have to mean perfect. It can just mean you showed up in whatever way you could.

Not everything in your life needs to be thriving right now. Some things are in “bare minimum but we’re trying” mode.

And that includes you. Today’s version of success might look like:
- answering 1 email
- canceling plans
- eating something besides snacks

It counts. It fully counts. And yeah “just browsing” elliementalhealth.com counts too.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, but most people don’t wait for a calendar to feel overwhelmed. It can look like being exhausted but unable to sleep. Snapping at small things. Staring at your phone and not really taking anything in. You don’t have to hit a breaking point to talk to someone. Support can be for the “in-between” too. If it’s been on your mind, that’s enough reason.

What your first therapy session is NOT:
❌ you spilling your entire life story perfectly
❌ a breakthrough moment
❌ someone judging you

What it actually is:
✔ a conversation
✔ getting a feel for things
✔ a starting point

Are you living with chronic anxiety, struggling to trust others, or feeling numb or disconnected from your own story? Do you find yourself asking, “Why wasn’t I kept safe?” or jumping quickly into relationships that leave you unfulfilled? I specialize in helping adults heal from childhood trauma, including experiences of loss, abandonment, and emotional disconnection. Together, we’ll gently explore your story and reconnect you to it in a meaningful, empowering way-so you can begin to feel whole again. You don’t have to carry this alone-reach out today to get started with therapy.

With nearly two decades of experience as a licensed therapist in Missouri and internationally, I offer a compassionate, affirming space where all parts of your identity are welcome. My work supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and complex emotional experiences, including social anxiety and communication difficulties.

My approach blends evidence-based modalities such as trauma-informed therapy, CBT, and relational work with creativity and humor. I’m a theatrical storyteller who brings perspective through visuals, connection, and even over-the-top moments of levity-helping you piece together joy while healing from pain, and truly feel like the author of your life again.
