đż TURMERIC + RED LIGHT THERAPY: BETTER TOGETHER? đ´
This is some pretty fascinating research!
Most of us have heard of curcuminâthe active plant compound found in turmericâfor its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
But researchers have also begun studying what happens when curcumin is combined with photobiomodulation (red/near-infrared light therapy).
In one experimental study, researchers compared the treatments and found that the combination of curcumin and photobiomodulation was associated with:
đĽ Decreased inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-Îą and IL-6
đą Increased growth factors involved in tissue repair
⥠Improved cellular proliferation and migration
𩹠A shortened inflammatory phase during wound healing
In another animal study, the combination of photobiomodulation + curcumin significantly improved healing compared with either treatment alone.
This is exciting because it supports something weâre seeing more and more in wellness research: different therapies may complement one another by working through different biological pathways.
Red light doesnât simply âactivateâ every herb you take, and this research isnât proof that sitting in a red-light bed makes an oral turmeric supplement more potent. But the emerging research on combining photobiomodulation with plant compounds like curcumin is fascinating!
